08/17/2026 Minutes TB (08/22/2026) 1 MINUTES - TOWN OF RED CEDAR The monthly Town Board meeting was held at the Red Cedar Town Hall, E6591 627th Avenue, Menomonie, WI on Monday, August 17, 2026. 1. Call to order/roll call. At 6:00 p.m., Supervisor 1, Erik Hendrickson, called the meeting to order. Present were Supervisor 2, Dennis Gotlibson; Supervisor 3, Tom Cegielski; and Supervisor 4, Nick Berends. The Chairman, Bob Cook, was absent. Also present were the Clerk, Cheryl Miller; the Treasurer, Deb Gotlibson; and one resident. 2. Minutes. Motion by Nick Berends to approve the minutes of the July 13, 2026 town board meeting; motion seconded by Tom Cegielski. None opposed. MC 3. Public Comments (agenda items only). None. 4. Financials. Motion by Nick Berends to approve the prior month’s Treasurer’s Report and current month’s claims; motion seconded by Tom Cegielski. None opposed. MC 5. Reports and Recommendations: (a) Patrolmen. The Patrolmen provided a report of work performed since the last meeting. (b) Finance Committee (budget income and expenses to date) and solid waste/recycling. The budget income and expense spreadsheets were reviewed. (c) Planning Commission. No meeting is scheduled for this month. 6. Business: (a) Heat exchanger. The proposal from Cedar Falls Heating to move the heat exchanger from the shop to outside the east wall of the town hall was reviewed, and it will cost approximately $300.00 for an electrician. Motion by Tom Cegielski to accept the $1,769.00 proposal from Cedar Falls Heating and hire LBR Electric for the project; motion seconded by Dennis Gotlibson. None opposed. MC. The proposal was signed. (b) Set Fall yard waste disposal dates/times. September, October, and November dates will be added. (c) WTA Fall Workshop. Cheryl, Deb and Dennis plan to attend the workshop on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The Clerk will check to see if the Chairman wants to attend also. (d) Dunn Co. Unit WTA Banquet on Tuesday, October 20th. This item was postponed. (e) Moratorium/licensing ordinances related to data centers. This item was postponed. (f) Discussion on increasing town levy on an ongoing basis for EMS/fire or any and all projects. Motion by Nick Berends to draft and approve a Resolution that proposes exceeding the levy limit by $180,000.00 on a permanent basis; motion seconded by Tom Cegielski. None opposed. MC. The Clerk will draft the Resolution and present it at the September or October town board meeting for approval. This item was postponed. (g) Discussion on road abandonment in Eagle Point south of 650th Avenue. This item was postponed. (h) Updates on proposed Urban Sewer Boundary Agreement with the City of Menomonie. This item was postponed. (i) City of Menomonie and Town of Red Cedar border roads and snow plowing plans. This item was postponed. (j) Updates on Park Rapids lot. This item was postponed. (k) Appoint board member to Menomonin Area Rescue District. Motion by Dennis Gotlibson to appoint Erik Hendrickson to the Menomonin Area Rescue District; motion seconded by Nick Berends. None opposed. MC. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Northside Fire Department. (l) Work on 2027 budget expenses. This item was postponed. (m) Other town issues, matters, and concerns. The updated Clerk contract was signed. Communications: (a) Correspondence and announcements. The Joint Town/City meeting is scheduled for August 18, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall, and the EMS District Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Northside Fire Department. (b) Upcoming agenda items. Postponed items. 8. Set Next Meeting Date. The next meeting was set for Monday, September 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. 9. Adjourn.
