THE VILLAGE OF GAYS MILLS
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Village Board of Gays Mills held on Monday, July
6, 2026, which began at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Commerce Board Room.
Village President Harry Heisz called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken
with the following present: Joe Boland, Harry Heisz, Emily Kinserdahl, Larry McCarn,
and Kim Pettit. Kevin Murray and Art Winsor were absent.
The board received verification that the agenda was posted in accordance with the open
meeting law.
No citizens or delegations took place.
No Wastewater Treatment Project report was given.
A swimming pool report was not given.
Under the Public Works report Heisz reported that heavy rain in the area on July 2nd did
result in flood damage on West Point Road with washing out of gravel and bank next to
the culvert; the road was closed during this time. There was a small amount of water over
State Highway 171 near the bridge and there were also trees that fell on the roads. The
river crested at 14.78. Road repairs will need to be made on West Point Road. The road
culvert on Highway 131 near the well house did not handle all the rainwater and water,
rocks, and mud overflowed the highway resulting in the Fire Department managing
traffic and cleanup until the water slowed. There were two water main breaks this past
month with the sewer replacement project on State Highway 171 near the Royal Bank.
With the vibration of the machinery and poor quality of the water mains there was a
break on June 25th and June 29th. Craig Anderson stated his concerns about the
cottonwood tree next to the dam buildings; the tree is in poor condition and he is
concerned about it falling. Heisz stated he has talked to the county about removal, but it
has not been completed yet. This tree is in highway right-of-way. The new lawn mower is
in and one of the Gravely mowers is at M & M Lawn & Leisure for repair.
