STANDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS & REPORTS
Personnel & Finance Committee
A motion was made by Ed Johnson and seconded by Sara Reimann to hire a Full-Time
Patrol Officer for the Police Department. Clerk/Treasurer Peterson and Chief Thiex will
coordinate posting of the position. Motion carried without negative vote.
The Boad discussed the hiring timeline of the position. Chief Thiex would like the
position to be posted “until filled” so that way as applications are received they can be
reviewed and interviews scheduled accordingly. The Board discussed having a two-
tiered interview system with Board members and members of an outside law-
enforcement agency conducting the first round with Chief Thiex holding a more informal
interview. Board members will let Clerk/Treasurer know if they want to be included in the
interview. Chief Thiex will work on gathering questions for the interview process. The
position will be posted in the Burnett County Sentinel, on WiLe net, and on the League of
Wisconsin Municipality’s website. A motion was made by Dave Doty Sr. and seconded
by John Tinman to follow the proposed timeline for hiring and to have members from
Public Safety Committee and Personnel & Finance Committee as the “interviewers”
along with outside law enforcement agency representatives. Motion carried without
negative vote.
NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by John Tinman and seconded by Sara Reimann to approve the list
of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Short-Term Rental Licenses for the period of July 1, 2025
through June 30, 2026. All licenses are renewals and have been approved by the Police
Department with no issues that would prevent approval. Clerk/Treasurer Peterson
explained that there was one establishment who did not turn their applications in yet so
assuming they make the required 15-day time frame their applications will be brought to
the regularly scheduled June Board meeting. Motion carried without negative vote.
