Town of Nekimi Annual Meeting April 9, 2013 The Town of Nekimi Annual Meeting was called to order by Chairman Glen Barthels at 7:30 p.m. at the Nekimi Town Hall. Chairman Barthels led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Members of the Nekimi Town Board, Glen Barthels, Tom Pollack and Larry Schweda, the Treasurer, Jessica Potratz and the Clerk, Julie Barthels, were introduced. Fire Chief Frank Sanchez was introduced. Announced that Troy Zacharias, Action Appraisers and Consultants is the Town Assessor. Acknowledged that Pat Brennand, County Board Supervisor was present at the meeting. There were 12 residents in attendance. The Clerk, Julie Barthels, read the minutes of the 2012 annual meeting. Motion was made by Jerry Braasch to approve the minutes as read, 2nd by John McBrair. Carried by Voice Vote. The Clerk, Julie Barthels, presented a summary of the 2012 financial report. Copies of the report were made available to all in attendance. The Clerk asked if any additional information was needed on the detailed report. John McBrair moved to approve the report as presented, 2nd by Kathy Sawall. Carried by Voice Vote. Fire Chief Frank Sanchez gave a report on the Nekimi Volunteer Fire Department. Two members of the First Responders have received their “10 year Membership” with the State. They are Frank Sanchez and John McBrair. The Chief explained that the department is in need of new defibrillators, and that they are having a pizza sale to raise money toward them. The Department is looking for residents interested in becoming volunteer firefighters. The Town Board and Residents thank each and every Volunteer Fire Fighter and First Responder for their hard work and dedication to the Town of Nekimi. Topics from the Residents – Posting Fund Raisers for the Fire Department on the Town’s Website; Discussed road repairs to County Road I; Questioned the Airport Tower and the Road Around the Airport; Discussed how to get more town residents to the Town meetings – suggestion was to include meeting dates in the tax letter as well as the possibility of a Town Newsletter; Questioned the property on Fisk Avenue; Questioned the quarry on County Road N and how they would be discharging water; Discussed Green Meadow School property.
