Town of Nekimi Annual Meeting April 21, 2014 The Town of Nekimi Annual Meeting was called to order by Chairman Glen Barthels at 7:00 p.m. at the Nekimi Town Hall. Chairman Barthels led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Members of the Nekimi Town Board, the Treasurer and the Clerk were introduced. Fire Chief Frank Sanchez was introduced. Robert Keller, Winnebago County Board Supervisor District 32 was introduced and thanked everyone for their support. There were 13 residents in attendance. The dates for Open Board and Board of Review were announced. Open Book – May 20, 2014 – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Board of Review – June 7, 2014 – 8:00 am. The Clerk, Julie Barthels, read the minutes of the 2013 annual meeting. Motion was made by John McBrair to approve the minutes as read, 2nd by Darlene Kumbier. Carried by Voice Vote. The Clerk, Julie Barthels, presented a summary of the 2013 financial report. Copies of the report were made available to all in attendance. The Clerk asked if any additional information was needed on the detailed report. Darlene Kumbier moved to approve the report as presented, 2nd by LeRoy Rank. Carried by Voice Vote. Fire Chief Frank Sanchez gave a report on the Nekimi Volunteer Fire Department. The Fire Department currently has 35 Active Firefighters, 10 First Responders, 1 Fire Investigator, 2 Fire Inspectors, 1 Public Education Officer and 1 Probationary. The Fire Department responded to 51 Fire Calls, and the First Responders responded to 79 Calls. He reported on the Auto Aid Agreement between Fire Departments. All Town of Nekimi First Responders were re-certified this year. Fire Chief Sanchez reported on the defibrillators that the First Responders have and how they were obtained. The Fire Department is proud to report that they are purchasing a new fire truck with funds that were raised by the Department. The Department is looking for residents interested in becoming volunteer firefighters. The Town Board and Residents thank each and every Volunteer Fire Fighter and First Responder for their hard work and dedication to the Town of Nekimi. Elected Officials Salaries were discussed. Dan Fournier moved to set the 2015/2016 salaries at the same percentage as set in 2012. 2nd by LeRoy Rank. Carried by Voice Vote. Date and Time for 2015 annual meeting was discussed. Darlene Kumbier moved to have the 2015 Town of Nekimi annual meeting on the third Monday of April at 7:00 p.m. 2nd by Jennifer Folske. Carried by Voice Vote. Topics from the Residents – Mud Run; 4 Way Stop at County Road N & County Road I; Aviation Park; Fire Signs; Town Newsletter; Town Property Sale to Planeview; Michels Materials Conditional Use Permit; Landscaping around Town Hall; Town Hall Bathrooms; Repair to Washburn Street; and Road Budget. Town Clerk announced that she will not be seeking re-election for 2015. LeRoy Rank moved to adjourn the 2014 Annual Meeting, 2nd by John McBrair. Carried by Voice Vote.
