Town of Nekimi Annual Meeting April 10, 2012 The Town of Nekimi Annual Meeting was called to order by Chairman Glen Barthels at 7:30 p.m. at the Nekimi Town Hall. Chairman Barthels led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Members of the Nekimi Town Board, the Treasurer and the Clerk were introduced. Fire Chief Frank Sanchez was introduced. There were 13 residents in attendance. The Clerk, Julie Barthels, read the minutes of the 2011 annual meeting. Motion was made by John McBrair to approve the minutes as read, 2nd by Kathy Sawall. Carried by Voice Vote. The Clerk, Julie Barthels, presented a summary of the 2011 financial report. Copies of the report were made available to all in attendance. The Clerk asked if any additional information was needed on the detailed report. Shirley Miller moved to approve the report as presented, 2nd by Kathy Sawall. Carried by Voice Vote. Fire Chief Frank Sanchez gave a report on the Nekimi Volunteer Fire Department. The Fire Department currently has 35 Active Firefighters, 12 First Responders, 1 Fire Investigator, 2 Fire Inspectors, 1 Public Education Officer and 1 Probationary. The Fire Department responded to 68 Calls, and the First Responders responded to 95 Calls. The Department is looking for residents interested in becoming volunteer firefighters. The Town Board and Residents thank each and every Volunteer Fire Fighter and First Responder for their hard work and dedication to the Town of Nekimi. Salary for Town Officials – Motion by Peter Smith to leave salary at 77% of the Towns Association Formula. 2nd by Frank Sanchez. Carried by Voice Vote. Topics from the Residents – Golden Oak 4-H Club would like to volunteer to do some kind of project for the Town; the Border Agreement between the Town of Nekimi and the City of Oshkosh and where it is at; Town Hall Bathrooms in need repair; talked about having a display case for the Nekimi Fire Department to display awards that they have received. The Town Board would like to express sympathy to the families of two past Town Board Members that passed away this year. William Pollack and James Tigert.
