TOWN OF FOND DU LAC
FOND DU LAC COUNTY
PUBLIC HEARING
NOVEMBER 6, 2025
6:00 PM
The Public Hearing for the 2026 Proposed Budget was called to order by Chairman Jeff
Montsma. Present were Chairman Montsma, Supervisors Aaron Kuhls, Jessica
Allender, Jennifer Janeczko, and David Washkoviak, Clerk Patti Supple, Treasurer
Brenda Post, Deputy Clerk Theresa Klapperich and Town residents Mary Gorske,
James Supple and John Zorn. Confirmation was made of Open Meeting notice.
The 2026 Proposed Budget was presented. It was published in the Reporter and
posted on the Town website.
Mary Gorske had the following questions. She noted the income had increased
@$280,000.00. This was due to a $300,000.00 loan that will be taken out in 2025 and
paid back in 2026 for road repairs. The Town’s tax levy might be decreasing by
@$20,000.00 due to the State not reimbursing Townships for the personal property tax
levy. The general fund disbursements have been rearranged to coincide with the State
mandated topics. The prior budget and the accounting system have been updated to
make the proposed budget and the published newspaper notice more in line with each
other and easier to understand. Some accounts under one line item have been moved
to another line item. Hopefully by next years budget the numbers will be more aligned.
The debt retirement now includes the loan for roads. The Town paid off $270,000.00 in
principle on the Water Utility Loan. While the Town does have a nice cushion for the
remainder of 2025 in the general account in comparison to 2024, there are some bills
paid for last year’s road repairs that the Town has not paid yet this year.
Chairman Montsma noted at the Annual Meeting, a motion was made to increase the
tax levy to prepare for Fire Truck replacement. Instead, the Board is proposing to set
aside $50,000.00 yearly for the next 3 years to help defray the cost.
There being no more discussion or questions motion was made and seconded to
adjourn the Public Hearing into the Special Town Meeting of the electors. Motion
carried.

The Special Town Meeting of the Electors was called to order. All from the Public

$1,192,099.00. It is unknown at this time if the personal property levy will be
