1 July 27, 2026 PLANNING COMMISSION 1:00 p.m. Chairperson Rick Champeny via Zoom called the meeting of the Planning Commission at 314 N. Main St., Alma, WI to order with the following members present: Loren Mueller, Randy Brommer, Marcel Kulas, Sandra Ebert, Kati Hanson via Zoom. Calvin Loewenhagen was absent. Champeny announced Agenda Item 1: Conditional use permit application submitted by Gary Heim, 160 State Rd 35 N, Alma, WI, to turn the residential property into a short term rental. Mueller asked Heim if this was going to entail the whole property. At first Heim stated that it would be just the house and then said it would be the whole property. Brommer asked if the property was for sale. Heim stated that it was and that it didn’t have anything to do with it. Brommer stated that the City gets money from Dairyland Power for each resident. Heim stated that his property would be the perfect setting for a VRBO. He said he wants to do things right. Champeny reiterated conditions of things like: noise regulations (following hours), signage not to be extravagant (2x4 max), all ordinances to be abided by, no noise after 10pm-8am, and marketing with these stipulations. Motion by Mueller seconded by Brommer to approve the short term rental with the conditions set forth above. All members voting yes except for Mayor Champeny Abstaining by roll call vote. Motion by Mueller seconded by Brommer to adjourn. All members voting yes.
