Finance Minutes 03/03/2026

March 9, 2026 FINANCE/TAX & LICENSE/ZONING COMMITTEE 11:00 a.m. Chairperson Gary Jepsen called the meeting to order with the following members present: Larry Grisen and Perry Iberg by Zoom. Also present: Mayor Richard Champeny and Clerk-Treasurer Sharaya Reed. Agenda Item 1: Building permit applications. None. Agenda Item 2: Building permit violations. None. Agenda Item 3: Operator License. None. Agenda Item 4: Library Matters. Motion by Grisen seconded by Iberg to approve Market & Johnson invoice as presented – pay request #6 for $250,066.69. All members voting yes. Agenda Item 5: Grant Writing Training. Deputy Clerk Michalea Handke gave a brief overview of what classes are being looked at for training. Jepsen wanted to know the length of time each class requires for completion. Handke to look at timing of each class. Motion by Jepsen seconded by Iberg to have Handke to continue moving forward with current class started. All members voting yes. Agenda Item 6: Swimming Lessons Funding Request from Alma Area Schools. Reviewed email from Alma Schools Superintendent Rob Stewart. Discussion was held on the history of the funding and where it came from. Options of funding were discussed. Talked about paying half this year and the parents to pay for next year. Table more discussion on next year option to next month meeting. Motion by Iberg seconded by Grisen to have Jepsen discuss the matter with Rob and get an estimate of how many of the kids are Alma residents and how many are from outside townships. All members voting yes. February 2026 receipts and checks were looked over. Motion by Grisen seconded by Jepsen to adjourn. All members voting yes.
