We now have a Ford Explorer, a former city vehicle, to use as a library outreach vehicle. We’re waiting on license plates and I would like to look into using some PLLS Outreach funds to get it wrapped for some library visibility. Jayme and I will be attending the Wisconsin Library Association Conference in Middleton from October 21 to October 23. Marijka and I just had an accepted program proposal for the upcoming 2027 Power Up Conference in Madison on March 22 and 23. Here’s our program description: Giving Youth a Voice in Your Library The Milton Public Library has two very active youth groups: Board of Library Tweens (BLT) and Teen Advisory Board (TAB). These groups give young people a meaningful opportunity to share their perspectives, ideas, and experiences to help shape library services. They also provide a safe, welcoming space for the youth to connect with library staff and each other. Ashlee and Marijka will talk about their processes in creating the groups and share how youth advisory groups can serve as valuable partners in planning and providing programs, improving library spaces, and creating services that better reflect the needs and interests of young people. Attendees will learn how involving youth in decision-making can strengthen connections between the library and its community while giving young people a space and a voice.
