Last minute meetings were approved.
Treatment Court Update- Wendy Ness updated the council with the following:
• There are currently 7 active participants in the program. One just recently
graduated.
• Wendy is looking at getting more programming available for the participants
and even getting other Treatment Courts involved.
• The recovery library will be set up with an unveiling on May 29th at 12:00pm.
Light refreshments will be available.
• During the unveiling, they will also talk about the new app available to the public.
It is called Connections. It is a recovery app to help provide resources to the
public and keep them on track to a successful recovery. Right now, people have to
go through Wendy or Human Services for the app.
• Working on getting Lift Wisconsin to being clinics to the area. This is to help people
clean up their criminal record so that they can gain employment and housing.
• Wendy is also working with other organizations to help people get their
driver's licenses back.
• Wendy is also working with Phoenix Mobile Rise. It is a transportation company that
works 24/7. As long as the destination starts or ends in Taylor County the driver will
then take them anywhere they need to go. Wendy is working on how to sort out
the funding for this.
Suzanne Stanfley announced that they are now accepting credit card for payment for the
AODA assessment. This should hopefully speed up the process and allow people to pay for
the assessment sooner.
Kala Thompson has accepted the position for the Children and Family Services and
Supervisor.
There are some changes in the Judge's office. The Court Reporter Paula Anderson is
retiring on May 3rd• Britney Anderson will be taking over as the Digital Audio Reporter on
May 5th, and Sadie Trawicki is the new Judicial Assistant.
The Court uses SWITS for interpretation services and they charge a cancellation fee if the
defendant does not show up or if they are not cancelled within a certain time frame.
Discussion held on how to have the defendant's pay for this cancellation. Possibly could
add it as a fine once they are sentenced. It does help to group the hearings together with
other cases so that if one does not show the cancellation fee is then not charged to the
County.
Collection of restitution by DOC or Clerk of Courts. Discussion held about the process.
LeeAnn stated that it all depends on how the JOC is worded. If it is worded that the Clerk of
Courts office collects, then they are collecting. If DOC is to collect than the JOC should
reflect that. She did say that the same entity is to be used to collect on joint and several
restitution cases that have multiple co-defendants. It is also changing where DOC cannot
collect any of their fees until restitution is paid in full. Therefore, any fee's that they may
collect will go toward restitution first, and they will forward the money on to the Clerk of
Courts office. If the restitution is to be determined, the Clerk of Court can forward the
restitution summary, once filed, to DOC and they will fill out form 31 and send to Judge
for signature.
Next meeting is scheduled for July 26th, 2024.
Meeting ended at 9:25 AM.
