VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 County Board Room Members Present: Arnold Sova, Barry Anderson, Jeff Hein Members Absent: none. Other Attendees: Sheila Sutton, Karyn Gebert Call Veteran Service Commission Meeting to Order: Chairman Barry Anderson called the Commission meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. Approve Agenda: Motion by Anderson, seconded by Sova, to add three (3) more line items to the agenda, appoint chairman, veterans’ assistance and bond on commission update . Motion carried. Approve the minutes of the March 31 st, 2023: Motion by Sova, seconded by Anderson, to approve the minutes of the March 31st, 2023 meeting. Motion carried. Appoint Chairman: Discussion to appoint Jeff Hein to be the new chairman for the Veterans Service Commission. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Sova, to appoint Hein as chairman of the Veterans Service Commission. Motion carried. Purchasing new cemetery flags, markers and totes: Sutton asked for approval to purchase new flags, markers and totes. Hein suggested spending the whole budgeted amount to get an inventory of flags and markers. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Sova, to spend the whole budgeted amount for new cemetery flags, markers and totes. Discuss approved 2025 Budget: Sutton presented the approved 2025 budget which remained the same as 2024. Veterans Assistance: Anderson wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the guidelines for assisting and aiding for veterans. Recommended running an article in the Star News Paper to inform the veterans on the ability to receive aid from the Veterans Service Commission. Updating the Standard Operating Procedures. Bond on Commission update: Hein wanted to make sure that the Bond for 2025 was paid for and that there were no names needed. Set next meeting date: The next Veteran Service Commission meeting will be announced as needed. Adjournment: Motion by Anderson, seconded by Sova, to adjourn the meeting at 11:40 a.m. Motion carried.
