5. WATER REPORT
5.1. Well & Distribution System Report Discussion
-Two lead services that were found on Allen Street have been replaced by the owners and are in
compliance prior to paving.
-DNR released new investigative water parameter testing and Mayvill was chosen to be one of the
representative samples in the state. We will have additional 4th quarter testing for ammonia
stemming from an ammonia nitrogen spile seen in Williams Bay, WI
-We completed our lead testing required by DNR permit. Previously, we had to take 80 annual
residential samples from approved sites. The average of these samples in 2020 during the initial
action level exceedence was 18.24 ug/L. We have now tested 20 approved sites every 3 years and
our average is now 2.19 ug/L
6. WASTEWATER REPORT
6.1. Sewer System Report Discussion
-We are moving furniture and appliances into the new building. We are not able to fully occupy until
inspections are complete and we will have to move the lab over a weekend to accommodate
permitted testing dates. Fire Inspection is to be completed in the next two weeks.
-Additional testing will be required for asbestos within the process building. Contractors believe
they found remnants of asbestos when taking apart the boiler. There is an allowance within the
contract to cover this.
-Badger State Waste contacted us regarding high selenium levels in their land applied sludge. Our
previous testing does not indicate it was caused by us. We have taken a direct sludge sample from
holding for testing currently as they have a little bit mixed sludge in their holding.
7. DISCUSS WITH POSSIBLE ACTION

-This was in regards to the May 20 2026 request.
-Commissioner Boelk was in contact with our attorney and, based on those meetings, a motion for
the approval of residential sewer connections be denied because of limitations and restrictions on
capacity that would allow extension of sewer beyond the boundaries of the city. Motion by
Commissioner Boelk. Seconded by Alderperson Smith. Motion passed 7-0 to deny.
-Letter to the Kekoskee Village Clerk will be sent with the following wording:
The Utility Commission, at its meeting of June 22, 2026 considered the May 20,2026 request by the
Village for approval of residential sewer connections. The request was denied because the City

Dear Mayville Utilities Commission,
I am writing to formally request a billing review and potential bill relief for the
water usage recorded at 403 S. Clark St for June and July of 2026.
We built a new house at this address last fall and put a new lawn in on
5/23/26. During the months of June and July, my property will have an
unusually high water consumption. This spike is due to extensive exterior lawn
watering required to establish our new lawn. Unfortunately, right when we put
the lawn in the rain slowed down.
I understand that I am responsible for the water used. However, because this
large volume of water was absorbed into the ground and did not return to the
wastewater treatment system, I am requesting some relief on the sewer bill.
My bill has typically been $140, but with the increase in usage my June bill is
$397.
Many municipalities offer free metering of the garden hose spigots so you can
measure what won’t be returning through the wastewater system. I did reach
out ahead of time, but Mayville doesn’t currently offer this service.
If there is a form I need to complete or if you require any specific dates and
details regarding my irrigation, please let me know.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
Steven Pliner
