Theresa Public Works Report – From
May for June Meeting
Bill Weisensel, Director of Public Works
Village DPW
1. Obtaining quotes for street repairs to McArthur Road and Wisconsin Street for chip/seal or micro-surfacing.
Continuing to patch potholes for now as time allows.
2. Several complaints have been received due to mud washout onto the streets after heavy rains in Valley Estates
due to all of the construction. Working with contractors and new homeowners to comply with Erosion
Control/Stormwater Management ordinance and keeping the streets as clean as possible while this construction is
taking place.
3. Several trees were damaged during the tornado/severe weather recently and will be pruned or removed as
needed. Some of the new trees we have already purchased may be placed in areas where village owned trees were removed.
The brush pile is also massive already after all of the brush that was hauled to the pile after the tornadoes, so we will have our
contractor coming to grind up the pile ASAP.
4. The Highway 28/Mayville Street resurfacing project is underway with detour routes posted by the States’
contractor. The portion within the Village will include pavement milling and replacement along with sidewalk crossing
improvements. The milling of asphalt will likely be starting next week in the township portion working towards Mayville Street.
5. Alliant Energy’s contractor (InterCon) worked on restoration of the properties they had disturbed while they were
replacing their steel gas mains and services. They have to return to complete a few properties that were not adequately
restored yet, but this will need to be coordinated with the pavement contractors also.
Sanitary Sewer
1. Two manholes will be brought up to grade within the re-paving project, one just needs an extension ring, the other
in the intersection of Highlander/28 needs to have the top cone repaired, and the cover will be replaced with a
“tight-sealing” cover to remove any possible infiltration due to the open pick hole.
2. CMAR (Compliance Maintenance Annual Report) will be completed and ready for the resolution at the meeting.
3. Sanitary sewer lateral work continues with follow up with residents who need to complete their repairs yet.
4. Sewer mains/manholes will continue to be inspected during times of high rain to check for signs of
infiltration/inflow and repairs will be made if needed. Dry weather times may require sewer mains to be flushed to
prevent buildup of solids.
Waterworks
1. We have a few of the new water meter transmitters that have failed and will be returned for warranty
replacement.
2. Fire Hydrant Flushing has been completed. One of our original 1954 hydrants will need to either be taken apart,
and repaired (if possible) by an outside contractor due to it being in-operable. This will require the shutdown of a
portion of water main near the intersection of Forest/Highland Ave. Notice to affected residents will be given
when this project will take place.
3. Water Main valve exercising will also be occurring as time and weather conditions allow.
4. Other time spent with water includes passing out several late/disconnect notices for water billing and installing
several meters in new construction homes.
