Theresa Public Works Report – From
April for May Meeting
Bill Weisensel, Director of Public Works
Village DPW
1. Asphalt was patched at water main break areas, concrete curb replaced by S. Milwaukee Street main break area,
asphalt will be patched, and lawns restored to these areas ASAP also. Other grounds repairs are still in progress also.
2. River’s Edge Park restrooms required some plumbing repairs so all will be functional.
3. Five new trees have been purchased and will be planted ASAP to complete the Urban Forestry Grant project that was
extended last year. Tree pruning will also occur as needed to maintain village owned trees.
4. The Highway 28/Mayville Street resurfacing project is underway with detour routes posted by the States’ contractor.
The portion within the Village will include pavement milling and replacement along with sidewalk crossing
improvements.
5. Alliant Energy’s contractor (InterCon) worked on restoration of the properties they had disturbed while they were
replacing their steel gas mains and services. The village has been in contact with them as some properties have not
been satisfactorily restored so they will need to return to make the needed improvements. Please remember to water
the new grass seed on your property per the recommendations given on the door hanger notice you received from
InterCon as the grass seed will not germinate without being watered properly.
Sanitary Sewer
1. Seasonal UV disinfection system and weekly e-coli monitoring have been resumed as required at the WWTP, all
working well.
2. Daily operations and maintenance of WWTP along with all required reports completed.
3. Sanitary sewer lateral work continues with follow up with residents who need to complete their repairs yet.
4. Sewer mains/manholes will continue to be inspected during times of high rain to check for signs of
infiltration/inflow and repairs will be made if needed. Dry weather times may require sewer mains to be flushed to
prevent buildup of solids.
Waterworks
1. We are still having problems with one resident of a multi-family apartment building refusing to pay the water bill
and continues to attempt to turn the water supply valve back on to the meter after it has been shut off and locked
out as required by PSC regulations for non-payment. Law enforcement has also been involved with this situation.
2. Hydrant Flushing will be tentatively scheduled for the week of June 2-6. A notice will also be put in the newspaper
and on the Village website.
3. Water Main valve exercising will also be occurring as time and weather conditions allow.
4. Seasonal water meters have been turned back on at both cemeteries.
5. Need to explore options of rebuilding the well #1 dilapidated building along with the addition of a permanent
generator should power failure occur.
