531 N. Nash St., Hortonville, Wisconsin.

Officials/Staff present: Administrator Nathan Treadwell, Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Lauren
Prochnow, Library Director Alexandrea Krause
Discussion on Downtown Amenities and Maintenance Plan
Administrator Treadwell – the things we need to know – is there anything in particular you would
want with the hanging baskets and planters? The timeline in purchasing that – we weren’t
purchasing baskets or planters until winter. Ideally, we have time to look at what we would want.
Planters would be removed for winter.
Trustee Arendt Vanden Heuvel – the planters in New London are amazing with their plants.
Maybe we inquire because they have a vessel of water that remains in there.
Administrator Treadwell – we can do that too. An ATV/UTV with something on the back to water
them would be more beneficial. Parking on the road could get tricky because we’re relying on
the parking space to be open.
Trustee Arendt Vanden Heuvel asked, “Is there going to be a spicket out downtown to get
hosed down by memorial square? Looking to save on water capacity”?
Discussion ensued.
Trustee Arendt Vanden Heuvel – I want to make sure we’re set in case we need to budget for
these items. So if we’re buying the planters/hanging baskets, I want to make sure we’re meeting
the expectations. The utv would be multi-purpose. I want to have stuff we can maintain but also
don’t want artificial plants either.
Concerns regarding Alonzo splashpad were addressed.
Discussion on Holiday Decorations and Banners
Administrator Treadwell addressed the Board: We do have money in our CIP for holiday lights.
I think it’s hard for you all to imagine what it would look like. I asked if there was anything that
was polar bear related. Looking for something that would attach to poles. We are probably
towards the end of ordering lights for the year.
Question posed: What are we doing in memorial square? Probably a tree and lights we can
wrap around the pole.
Before we sell the flagpole, can we use that for the downtown. Seasonally, banners would be
nice to have. Once the lights are up, we would be able to present more options so you could
visually see it.
Adjourn
Motion [Davis, Olk] to adjourn. Unanimous voice vote, motion carried. The Committee adjourned
at 5:51 p.m.
