DISCUSSION: LANGLADE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROPERTY
The Village of Allouez has acquired Langlade Elementary School from the Green Bay Area
Public Schools and will take occupancy later this year. The Village Board is currently looking
into options for the use of the building as well as development of the surrounding property.
The Village is currently working with Somerville Architects and Engineering on the feasibility of
use including the potential to utilize a portion of the building for a community/recreation/senior
center. Staff will also work with a consultant on possible uses and development of the
surrounding property to include the adjacent Langlade Park as we move forward with this project.
Somerville will be providing a short presentation to the Village Board at the April 21, 2026,
meeting on a similar project they recently did in the Village of Denmark. The Committee is
encouraged to attend this meeting. Staff anticipates a public engagement process through surveys
and open houses as we move forward.
DISCUSSION: KIWANIS PICKLEBALL COURT SCHEDULING
C. Clark provided information and a request from a Village resident that would like to reserve
three pickleball courts for league play at Kiwanis Park this summer. Currently the six courts at
this location are available for open play on a first-come basis.
- There has been some confusion with users regarding reservations. Some groups claim
that they have courts reserved through a pickleball phone app known as Team Reach.
- Should the Village look into offering court reservations. If we control reservations and
scheduling it could reduce much of this confusion.
- The Village Recreation Department does hold a few programs that reserve courts for their
purpose.
- Pickleball is a popular sport and very popular in the mornings during summer.
Discussion:
- Other sport fields are reserved by youth sport groups utilizing field use agreements.
- There should be parameters regarding number of courts or time frames for reservable
courts.
- A portion of the courts should always be available for open play.
- One fee for reservations.
- The Committee would like staff to bring back some possible options for scheduling and
reservations to the next meeting for them to consider.
