1. Maintenance, Repairs, & System Update (Ozone, Bioxide, Lift Stations, Muffin
Monster, etc.)
Vanden Langenberg said the home at 2503 Sussex Road was recently televised and no
leaks were apparent. This issue is considered closed.
He added there are two suspected leaking laterals that were identified last year during NEW
Water’s pipe televising efforts and will require further investigation.
In addition, Vanden Langenberg said the EPA completed their cyber security assessment,
with no concerns to report. Vanden Langenberg discussed the Town of Scott’s cyber
security systems.
He added t he lift station at 4435 Nicolet Drive experienced a failure on April 5, 2026.
Operators temporarily installed the previously removed pump; however, it has a limited
remaining lifespan. A replacement pump has been ordered and is expected to be received
and installed on May 18. A date has been scheduled to put in the system. Herrman said
Vanden Langenberg called him and received permission for the expenditure prior to the
purchase. The estimated cost is $8,000.

Herrman provided an update on PFASs and the 2025 Collection System Results provided
by NEW Water Utility. A handout was provided to attendees and Commissioners of the
meeting.
2. Televising Report
Vanden Langenberg said the televising is complete and staff will present a report next month.
Additionally, Great Lakes is currently cleaning the sewer lines due to silt, gravel, leaves, and
road salt.
Vanden Langenberg provided an update on manhole repairs. He anticipated completion of
the project once weather conditions become drier.
3. Request to waive Sewer Fees
Vanden Langenberg said a Town resident (Jim McGovern) at 3669 Point Ln. discovered his
outdoor faucet was inadvertently turned on while on winter vacation. A neighbor turned it off,
however, was unaware how long it had been on. During the 1 st quarter meter reads, SMU
discovered the home did have a high-water volume use.
Vanden Langenberg cited the Public Service Commission rules, which state the Town
cannot deduct the water once it passes through the meter. However, he requested SMU to
consider deducting sewer volume since the water ran outside and not into the sewer system.
The resident’s water usage was more than 40,000 gallons. The resident’s average water
usage over the past three years was less than 1,000 gallons.
Vanden Langenberg said SMU’s past policy has been to allow a sewer bill deduction when
evident the water leak did not enter the sewer system. Based on this past practice, a credit
for 40,000 gallons of sewer flow; which equals $220.80, was adjusted on his Quarter 1 bill.
Moved by Kerr, seconded by Malvitz to approve a request by Jim McGovern at 3669 Point
Lane to receive a credit of $220.80. Vote: Aye-5, No-0. Motion Carried.
