A. SANITARY
1. Maintenance, Repairs, & System Update (Ozone, Bioxide, Lift Stations, Muffin Monster,
etc.)
Cerny summarized the staff report, which stated:
From Last Month: Repairs to the lateral for the home at the corner of Sussex Road and Champeau Road are
still being worked on.
• Two laterals need to be repaired; higher water flows will be needed to determine the necessity to repair.
Update from Last Month : Muffin Mon ster needs repairing; repair estimates could be as high as $10,000 -
$20,000. NEW Water is suggesting that the Muffin Monster could be abandoned if cutting blades are installed
with the new sanitary pumps. Currently the pumps are approximately 3 years old and working without issue.
Pumps can be expected to last approximately 6 years, at the time of replacement better pumps with ‘cutting
blades’ could be installed. The pumps with cutting blades would replace the need for the Muffin Monster.
Expected cost for pumps with cutting blades could range from $10,000-$20,000. Cerny said the operators will
continue to monitor.
Herrman asked about replacement costs of the muffin monster. Vanden Langenberg said the cost is
approximately $14,000 and will need to be replaced every seven years.
Tauschek recommended that the muffin monster not be replaced and instead replaced with pumps that have
cutting blades.
2. Televising Report
Cerny summarized the report, which stated:
RE: 4160 Nicolet Drive: The property owner was informed that that the sewer lateral serving his house will
be classified as a private lateral, and no easement will be pursued. Any future development in the area will be
required to be serviced by a main suitable for multiple users and dedicated to SMU a fter appropriate design,
construction, and approvals. Cerny did not send a certified letter.
2
Herrman asked how it is being documented , especially since the town has a n electronic document system.
Cerny said he could do document it appropriately.
