Impact by AIA Wisconsin for our Library Project!
b. Library Director’s Report: Way’s highlights of her report: Dominique Moyer started as our Library Page
on 8/31. This position was open due to a Library Page being promoted to Circulation Library Assistant.
Our LTE Pages for the summer, Leona and Sophia, have completed their time and will stay on as
substitutes when extra Page help is needed. Monica completed her Summer LTE Circulation Library
Assistant term on 8/31 and has decided not to continue as a CLA substitute. We are working closely with
Public Works staff to fill the Custodian position. Dr. Paster sponsored fun and colorful Lego artwork for
the Creative Space. Special thanks to Laura and Dave Dewey for installing it with care! Work on the
parking lot issue was completed September 1. Way wants to sincerely thank Lauren, Nick, and the
outstanding Public Works crew for their hard work taking the lead on making sure this was addressed
correctly. Their team did the curbing, asphalt, and restriping of our lot! The intersection of Hwy CC and
Alpine Pkwy construction project is nearly finished and is expected to be reopened soon.
c. Upcoming Library Events: Way discussed a few of the many September events coming up – the 6th
Annual Monarch Festival will be 9/12 and is a sponsored event with the Library and the Oregon Nature
Alliance; there will be a Storybook Music Project with the Utka Emsemble on 9/25; our popular Teen Late
Night is scheduled for 9/18; Today is the last day to view Paul Morrison’s wonderful art display in the
Community Room where there is also a Community Coat Drive happening today.

e. South Central Library System 2025 at a Glance: The 54 public libraries that make up the South Central
Library System serving over 900,000 residents in 7 counties had almost 8 million total c irculation
transactions in 2025! There were over 5 million library visits and over 570,000 patrons attended the
23,153 programs offered!
f. Board Continuing Education: Trustee Essential #6: Evaluating the Director (Wisconsin
Department of Public Instruction): Informational item for review only. No action needed.
g. Committee Reports
i. Gazebo/Outdoor Structure Committee: Nelson reported a potential project budget is available
and the information will be communicated with the donor.
ii. Personnel Committee
• Annual Library Director Evaluation: Goplin stated the Director Review Surveys were
made available to library staff this week and the Director Review Surveys for the Board to
complete will be sent out soon. The deadline for all of the surveys to be completed is the
end of September. The Committee will meet in October and report back to the Board in
November.
h. Communications
i. Village Board announcements: McDaniel said the Hwy CC and Alpine Pkwy intersection
construction project had an approved deadline extension that expired today. Because the project is
not yet completed, there will be a penalty for the contractor every day the intersection remains
closed. McDaniel is hopeful this disincentive is motivation for the contractor to complete the project
quickly.
ii. School District announcements: Anderson noted that school started this week! The 3-year-old
screening at the end of August was held at the library. Anderson said it was a great space for the
event with all of the different spaces and study room areas. It was also an opportunity for the
families in the district to visit the library! Anderson wanted to express her gratitude to the library
staff for the event!
8. Discussion and possible action items
a. 2027 Library Budget Request (if updates available): No updates are available at this time.
b. Library Branded Items: The library has seen a recent increase in patron interest for library-branded
clothing and merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, and tote bags. There are several ways other libraries
successfully manage this from merchandise sales for fundraising initiatives to print-on-demand websites
where patrons order directly, eliminating the need for library staff to handle financial transactions. Over
the years, Friends of the Library generously partnered with the library to make select Oregon Public
Library clothing items available to staff so that they may wear branded clothing while working at the library
or at library events. Historically, this was limited to staff only and staff were instructed to only wear the
attire during their work shifts, so staff customarily returned these items once their employment ended.
This new opportunity would be very similar to someone purchasing and wearing attire for a favorite school
or sports team, with the added benefit of providing increased awareness and support for the library. The
Board was very enthusiastic about this potential opportunity! Bonsett-Veal made the Motion to Authorize
permission for Oregon Public Library clothing and/or merchandise to be developed and made available
for purchase by the general public and to allow staff to wear OPL without any restrictions. Anderson
seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
9. Closing and Future Agendas
a. Request for future agenda items: none.
b. Next meeting: Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 5:15 PM
10. Adjournment: Shtaida made the Motion to Adjourn at 5:44pm. Reese seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
