Village Mill Rate $5.85 $5.79 ($0.06)
Mill rates are a type of levy set by local goverments every year to calculate property taxes. A
single mill is equal to one dollar of tax for every 1,000 dollars of a property’s assessed value. If a
home has an assessed value of $200,000 dollars, we would divide that number by 1,000 (to get
200) and multiply that number by the mill rate to get the annual property tax bill.

Departmental Summary
The Swimming Pool Fund accounts for the operation and financial management of the
Village's aquatic center. The fund supports pool operations, staffing, maintenance, supplies,
utilities, and other costs necessary to provide seasonal aquatic recreation services.
Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain the Village aquatic center.
• Provide safe and accessible aquatic recreation opportunities.
• Manage seasonal pool staffing and personnel costs.
• Maintain pool equipment and facilities.
• Purchase chemicals, supplies, and operating materials.
• Coordinate pool maintenance and contracted services.
• Manage pool-related revenues, fees, and charges.
• Monitor operating costs and participation levels.
• Plan for long-term pool maintenance and capital needs.
2027 Budget Highlights
The 2027 Swimming Pool Fund reflects a 20% increase from 2026. The Swimming Pool Fund
includes the salaries and benefits and operational costs associated with operating the
aquatic center.
The Aquatic Center has operated at a deficit for each of the past four years. As a result of
these ongoing operating deficits, the Aquatic Center currently has an outstanding balance
of $87,550 owed to the Village General Fund.
As the Village develops the 2027 budget, staff has evaluated the level of General Fund
support necessary to operate the Aquatic Center. In order to address the currently budgeted
operating deficit, the proposed 2027 budget increases the General Fund levy support
provided to the Aquatic Center by 63,795, or approximately 150%.
While the increased General Fund contribution provides significant additional support to the
Aquatic Center, staff believes that addressing the pool's financial position should be a
shared responsibility between the Village and those who use the facility. Proposed fee
increases would provide additional revenue directly from Aquatic Center users and reduce
the reliance on property tax support.
