13. Engineering Report
Mr. Haas provided an update on Greenfield construction projects:
o The Pondview Park dredging project is complete. Benches will be re-
installed by DPW as their work load allows.
o Phase 2 of the 31st/Holmes Resurfacing project is underway. The top
layer of asphalt was paved yesterday. Landscaping work and a concrete
speed table remains and should be complete in the next 2 weeks.
o 90th St and Plainfield Ave Neighborhood Reconstruction Phase 1 is
essentially complete for this year. We will be back in spring to evaluate
and touch up the landscaping and pave the top layer of asphalt. We
requested the United States Postal Service to allow residents to re-
install their mailboxes on their side of the road, but the request was
denied. Greenfield does not make those decisions.
o Layton Ave. Reconstruction between 60th St and 68th St is underway in
Stage 2 which is the south half of the road. Starting August 5th, the
south-east corner of 60th St and Layton will be closed for about 3
weeks. Traffic going north on 60th St will not be able to access Layton
Ave. Please use the posted detour on Loomis Rd to go around. After
this closure, the other south-west corner will be closed in a similar
manner. Construction will last until November.
o The Powerline Trail Phase 3 with a pedestrian bridge over the Root
River is underway. The bridge should be delivered and installed in a
couple of weeks. The rest of the path will be constructed after that
with completion in September.
o Box culvert replacement on Howard Ave between 27th St and Loomis
Rd has started with a full road closure. Work is expected to last until
November.
o Storm sewer in City Hall’s parking lot has been found to be in poor
condition. Some of the pipes will be lined so we can minimize the
amount of area that needs to be dug up.
o Turf work is on-going and includes a shelter, stage and parking lot.
Completion is expected around Labor Day.
• Update on other agency projects:
