Franklin Public Library Special Library Board Meeting July 23, 2026 Approved July 27, 2026 ATTENDANCE: ALSO ATTENDED: Jennifer Loeffel (JL), Library Director I. CALL TO ORDER: J. Loeffel called the meeting to order at 6:31pm and performed roll call attendance. III. VISITORS: Members of the Franklin Public Library Foundation: Barbara Wesener, Penny Woodcock, Sally Smits, and Dennis McKnight IV. PUBLIC COMMENT: None VII. BUSINESS: a. Discussion Regarding Mutually Beneficial Strategies Between Franklin Public Library and the Franklin Public Library Foundation: The importance of a strong relationship during the upcoming Children’s Area Re- design was discussed. Foundation Board President D. McKnight emphasized the Library Board’s role of actively managing the details of the redesign while the Foundation’s role is to fundraise for the project. New Library Board members were informed of the projects that the Foundation has funded in the past and that the Foundation exists to fund the “extra” things, not the things the City should be funding. b. Discussion Regarding Children’s Area Redesign Fundraising and Timeline: Foundation Board President D. McKnight announced the formation of an adhoc fundraising committee that will be comprised of himself and Foundation Board Vice-President Barbara Wesener; Library Board representatives Maria Imp and Kelly Walker; and community representatives Shari Hanneman and Michelle Runte. Barbara Wesener also has a volunteer who will act as a consultant, but is unable to be on the committee. J. Loeffel has received a revised quote from one of the vendors which is $150,000 less than the initial quote. She also has been contacted by the Beloit Public Library who has shelving that is a close match to what we have and in good shape. This will further reduce the quote. c. 2026 Fundraising Calendar: J. Loeffel distributed the 2026 Fundraising Calendar. Coming up on Monday, July 27, there will be a fundraiser at Panera Bread in Greenfield. The Foundation will receive 30% of net sales. All other fundraisers are similar to previous years. J. Loeffel has received commitments from some of the Franklin Lioness’ that they can assist with various tasks at the Holiday Boutique and Thrift Sale. XII. UPCOMING LIBRARY BOARD MEETINGS: a. Regular Library Board of Trustees Meeting: July 27, 2026 at 6:00pm in Sievert Conference Room. XIII. Adjourn: A. Aleksandrowicz moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:17pm. A. Pound seconded.
