1 | Shorewood Public Library Board of Trustees Finance Committee Meeting Notes July 21, 2026 SHOREWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES FINANCE COMMITTEE July 21, 2026 Meeting Notes Present: Committee Chair Scott Gronert, Trustee Jonathan Smucker, Trustee Wesley Warren, and Director of Library Services Hayley Johnson Call to order: Committee Chair Gronert called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM. Statement of Public Notice: Committee Chair Gronert confirmed that the meeting was properly noticed and posted according to law. INFORMATION – 2026 Q2 Financial Report Director Johnson shared the 2026 Q2 financial report prepared by David Hickey, the Village of Shorewood’s contracted accountant. Spending is on track with 47.5% of funding being spent this year. INFORMATION – 2027 Budget Planning The Village of Shorewood Finance Department planned to provide 2027 budget worksheets on Monday, August 3, 2026 with a due date of Friday, August 14, 2026. David Hickey, the Village of Shorewood’s contracted accountant suggested starting budget planning ahead of the worksheets. Because the library’s budget is overseen by the Shorewood Public Library Board of Directors, Director Johnson will start the budget process ahead of the worksheets. A future Finance Committee meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 5:30 PM to review a draft of the 2027 budget. INFORMATION – Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board Directed Fund Planning Committee Chair Gronert shared a report that highlighted the growth of Shorewood Public Library’s Greater Milwaukee Foundation (GMF) funds, suggesting greater utilization as part of a strategic planning process. The Finance Committee discussed the importance of conducting a strategic plan in 2027. Part of that plan would focus on larger annual GMF spending or a multi-year targeted investment.
