BROWN DEER LIBRARY BOARD July 13, 2026 MEETING MINUTES (Unapproved) The meeting was called to order by President C. McGuigan at 11:01 A.M. I. Roll Call Present: Board members: President D. Zimmer, C. Hoehn, C. McGuigan, K. Turner, and D. Woods Also Present: Dana Andersen-Kopczyk, Library Director; Nicole Garrett, Circulation Supervisor II. Call for Additional Agenda Items None III. Persons Desiring to be Heard None IV. Consideration of Minutes: a. June 8, 2026 – Regular Meeting It was moved by D. Woods and seconded by C. McGuigan to approve the minutes of the June 8, 2026 regular meeting. The motion carried unanimously. V. Unfinished Business None VI. Report of Library Director a. Director’s Report There were no verbal highlights or discussion of the report. b. Usage Report There were no verbal highlights or discussion of the report. c. Revenue/Expense Report There were no verbal highlights or discussion of the report. VII. New Business a. Consideration: Approval of June 2026 vouchers It was moved by D. Woods and seconded by D. Hoehn to approve the June 2026 vouchers. The motion carried unanimously. b. Discussion: Ice Cream Social at the Brown Deer Pond on July 19, 2026 Discussion included that the Library Board had offered to put on the Ice Cream Social in exchange for a Brown Deer Pond Pass for the library to circulate. The Library Board members are purchasing the ice cream, cups and spoons, and toppings and will have enough for the first 100 people. c. Discussion: Strategic Plan It was moved by D. Woods and seconded by C. McGuigan to accept the new Mission Statement The motion carried unanimously. It was moved by D. Woods and seconded by C. McGuigan to accept the “Objectives” section, renamed from “Executive Summary”. The motion carried unanimously. VIII. Report of Friends of the Brown Deer Library There was discussion surrounding who should be providing the Library Director with information to share with the Library Board; otherwise, if any Library Board member who was also a Friends member should be the one speaking here. IX. Adjournment Next meeting: August 20, 2026 It was moved by C. Hoehn and seconded by D. Woods to adjourn at 12:16.M. The motion carried unanimously.
