MINUTES Brown Deer Parks and Recreation Committee Tuesday, March 3, 2026 5:30 p.m. DPW Conference Room, DPW Meeting was officially called to order, 5:31pm. Roll Call Present: Marie Lieber, Nicole Munns, Dr. Todd Beadle, Ed Greaves Also Present: Danielle Mattefs, Parks and Recreation Director and Ben Rossman, Parks and Recreation Supervisor Absent: Elissa Retkowski and Lynn Halmar Persons Desiring to be Heard Consideration of Minutes March 3, 2026 It was moved by Ms. Munns and seconded by Ms. Lieber to approve the minutes of the March 3, 2026 minutes. The motion carried. Unfinished Business New Business Winter/Spring 2025/2026 Recap Ms. Mattefs and Mr. Rossman gave brief review about the Winter/Spring Season. Discussion followed. Upcoming in Parks & Recreation Programming Brown Deer Magazine Ms. Mattefs reviewed with the committee the changes happening to the Brown Deer Magazine and how that effects the Recreation Guide. The Parks and Recreation Guide will be mainly digital with 500 hard copies available at Village Hall, Lois and Tom Dolan Community Center, and Brown Deer Library. Discussion followed. Registration Open Summer Recreation Guide available and registration opens on April 13. Summer Programs Mr. Rossman gave insight to some new upcoming programs for Summer 2026. Some programs presented: Learn to Play Pickleball Lessons and Pickleball League at Ten Mile Park. T-Ball League at the School District. Continued programs from last Summer are Kayaking with Forward Outdoor and Free Yoga at Community Square with Solful Fitness. Discussion followed. Park Projects Pond Restoration Project Mr. Rossman gave an update on the ongoing Pond Restoration. The project should be completed in the next couple of weeks. Few action items remaining. Ten Mile Park Construction Update Ms. Mattefs and Mr. Rossman provided an update about Ten Mile Park. After a break in construction, the crews will begin work again in a week or two. Completion set for early May. North Shore Rotary Park Update Finishing up with the design and engineering phase. Fundraising continues and waiting on result of the Grant application. Community Square / Beer Garden Design and Engineering RFP goes out in March with proposals due March 13. Firm Recommendation to come to next committee meeting. Beer Garden Building is still open to interested parties. Beer Garden Building available for rentals in the interim. Discussion followed. VI. Committee Member Reports Update from Village Board Trustee Trustee Greaves updated the committee on some current Village Board items: 47th Street, Solicitation List, and other development updates. Discussion followed. Update from School Board Representative Dr. Todd Beadle provided some updates from the School District. Discussion followed. Other Member Reports Ms. Munns provided the committee with updates about the Food Pantry and Booster Club. Ms. Lieber provided some information regarding the Italian Community Center. VII.
