BROWN DEER TOURISM COMMISSION F EBRUARY 17, 2026 MEETING MINUTES VILLAGE HALL BOARD ROOM , 9 :00 AM The meeting was called to order by Trustee Booker at 9:00 a.m . I. Roll Call Present: Trustee Renee Booker , Village Manager Tyler Burkart, Finance Director / Treasurer Derrick Danner, Erica Vinson, Reena Khan, David Anderson Others Present: Marketing and Communications Coordinator Kerry Hoey , Victor Ra vag o II. Consider ation of Minutes: June 11, 2025 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes from the June 11, 2025 meeting. Ms. Khan seconded the motion. Motion carried by a 6 -0 vote. III. Persons Desiring to be Heard There were no persons desiring to be heard . IV. New Business a. Update on Research for North Shore Recreation Center Development Mr. Burkart shared the overall results of the market study for a regio nal recreation center in Brown Deer. Overall , the results demons trated a strong market to support the annual operations for such a facility. T he pro forma did show the cost for such a facility is higher than the initial $50 million estimate. Cobalt acquired the property west of Badger Meter at the end of 2025, and they are now reaching out to investors to seek if they can raise enough funds to pay for the initial capital to construct the facility. T here was an inqu iry about time frame. Mr. Burkart revealed that this building wouldn ’t be fully completed until 2029 or 2030 assum ing the Village and Cobalt find a way to pay for it. b. Update on Development in Brown Deer Mr. Burkart gave a summary on the development occurring in Brown Deer. Riverside Landing is on sch edule for Target and the commercial outlots to be built by the end of 202 7. U S Bank and First Citizens Bank buildings are being demolished for future commercial and mixed-use development. The Village 43 Apartments are completed. A lrig plans to have the Starbucks shell completed by June , and then S tarbucks will take over with building out the internal space. The Village is working with Urban Beets to find a business for their space. Fires ide Market will begin vertical construction this summer and still hope to have it completed by this year. T here were other discussions around Pick n ’ Save, the Community Square Ice R ink, and general park improvements being done in the Village. c. Update on Brown Deer Tourism Grant Program Mr. Danner went over the grant application process on who is eligible and how much is availabl e. T here were questions about how much is left in the Tourism Fund, which is approximately $80 ,000. V.
