2025 1-13 Town Board Minutes

JANUARY 13, 2025, WHEATLAND TOWN BOARD MEETING Meeting was called to order by Town Chairman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Town Hall in New Munster and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Town Board members present: Town Chairman Brett Butler, Supervisor Kyle Madsen, and Supervisor Kelly Wilson; Others present Treasurer Deb Vos, and Donna Bird. Notices were posted in two public areas (Town Hall and Transfer Station) sent to Wheatland School and the Town website. Individuals who requested meeting notices by e-mail, were sent agendas as required by state law. Minutes of the December 23, 2024, Town Board Meeting were motioned for approval by Kyle Madsen and second by Kelly Wilson. Motion carried. Public Comments: Donna Bird introduced herself and was interested in learning about the positions for Clerk and Treasurer. Job Posting Status: Supervisor Wilson talked about where to advertise for the positions of Clerk and Treasurer for the Town of Wheatland. She also talked about the pay rate and days off. Supervisor Kelly Wilson has the job description for both positions if interested. Email: kwilson23@wi.rr.com . The salary needs to be set by the Town Board, needs to be on the next agenda. Town Board discussed about keeping it, Salary. Job descriptions need to be posted. Supervisor Wilson will send it to West of the I, WTA and post it on website. Considerations for the Assessor Contract: Town Chairman Brett Butler called about other assessors; Randall has a higher rate for their assessor, Brett also talked to the president of Associated and President said , the rate has not been raised since 2016, and that this contract locks the town in till 2028 .. Motions made to go with Associated Appraisal for 4 years made by Supervisor Kyle Madsen and Second by Supervisor Kelly Wilson. Town Chairman will sign the Contract. Reports: Roads: Chairman Brett Butler reported complaints about excess salt in cull du sacs, Asphalt Contractors will replace salt wasted. Chairman Butler: nothing to report. Supervisor Kyle Madsen: Reported Town websites are done internally, like Twin Lakes and Randall do internal, updates and meetings. Supervisor Kelly Wilson: Highlighted on the new Clerk and Treasurer will need to know more than Microsoft. Quick books and other data basic. ASDA mentioned that the town did not renew contract that was up in 2024. Asda owner will send a new contract to sign. Treasurer: nothing to report. Clerk: Candidates list for 2025 Election April 1st are Chairman Jeffrey Butler, 1st Supervisor Kyle Madsen, 2nd Supervisor Kelly Wilson, Constable Robert Santelli, and Judge Terry Simmons. Correspondence: Nothing to report. Announcements: Open Saturday January 18th and January 25, 9:00 am to Noon for tax collection. Financial Matters: Purchase approvals, Other Financial matters, or Clerk reports: nothing to report. Adjournment – Brett Butler moved to adjourn at 6:30p.m. Kelly Wilson seconded. Carried.
