Town of Caledonia Town Board Meeting Minutes July 20, 2026 In attendance: Chairperson Abba, Supervisor Bosquez, Supervisor Knuth, Clerk|Treasurer Snyder and 6 residents. Excused: Deputy Clerk|Treasurer Kircher Chairperson Abba called the meeting to order at 6pm Public Forum: None Old Business: ● .gov website: Snyder explained that the town is looking into getting a .gov website to add legitimacy to the website, as is recommended by the elections commission. The federal government oversees .gov registration. Due to the number of Caledonia’s in WI, we would need to have the website address of: townofcaledoniawaupacacountywi.gov which is prohibitively long. It’s too late to get a .wi.gov website before the elections this year, so Snyder will look into a wi.gov website after the April elections in 2027. At this time, we will continue to use our townofcaledonia.com address. ● Gruetzmacher Park loan agreement has been signed ● Speed limit changes: ○ Cut-off Rd: We would need to pay for a traffic study and Mukwa would need to pass a matching ordinance since it’s a border road. We will not be pursuing a speed limit change. ○ Steinberg Rd: With the number of driveways and length of the road, it fits the criteria for a speed limit change. 35 mph speed limit signs will be installed. ● Hunting and trapping will not be allowed at Gruetzmacher Park per the DNR recommendation. ● Country Vision omitted tax situation has been resolved. ● Replacement lights at the town hall - a sample of lights was installed, they look great. The remainder will be ordered and installed. ● Dorschner property update provided. Action Items: ● Motion to approve minutes of the 6/15 Town Board Meeting and 6/25 Special Meeting. Motion carried. ● Motion to approve Change Order #7 for Gruetzmacher Community Center. Motion carried 2-1 with Knuth voting against. ● Motion to endorse the Planning Commission input on proposed county ordinance changes. Motion carried. ● Motion to approve Ordinance 5.7.1: Prohibiting Hunting and Trapping in Gruetzmacher Park. Motion carried with the note that we will need to amend 7.1 for the fines associated with violations. ● Motion to approve operator license for Jesse Bellin. Motion carried. ● Motion to approve the building inspector report. Motion carried. ● Motion to pay expenses and payroll as presented. Motion carried. ● Driveway permits - one Chairperson’s Report Chairperson Abba provided updates on: ● We experienced a Killer Cicada Wasp infestation on the ball diamond at Readfield Park. Valley Pest sprayed initially and the town’s maintenance person, Gregg, has continued to spray and monitor the issue to ensure DMR Softball can continue to play. ● Gruetzmacher Park community center will be completed in August. Pickleball and playground are on track as well. Park will open in September, grand opening ceremony will be May 2027. Wohlt grant has a fall timeline for when they accept applications. ● Broadband: no new updates ● Mowing: Town mowing along roads is complete. It appears that the full mow when it was completed helped control wild parsnip this year. ● Kanaman Bridge - a decision on the state grant is expected in a few weeks. If we get it, we would have a grant to cover 90% of the bridge replacement.. ● EMS vehicle for Dale should be ready in the fall. ● Faulks Brothers quarry plans. They are pursuing acquiring some land they already lease and use. This is not an expansion of the quarry. ● Plans for Gruetzmacher rentals at Gruetzmacher Park for discussion at future meetings. ● Fall newsletter planned to mail late August/early September. Clerk/Treasurer Report ● Clerk/Treasurer Snyder reported a cash balance of $1,272,120.53 at the end of June. ● Snyder advised that absentee ballots for the August election have been being mailed. Reminder that this is a partisan primary, so read instructions carefully. Additionally, if you return your ballot you cannot request a new one later if a candidate drops out or new information comes out. In person absentee voting will be held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10-2 & by appointment the two weeks before the election. Police, Fire, and Rescue Reports : Presented. Supervisor II Report: Will look into LRIP for the next phase of Weiland Rd in 2027. Animal control update.
