May Park Committee Meeting — Minutes

TOWN OF CALEDONIA – WAUPACA COUNTY Minutes of the Park Committee meeting held on May 19, 2026 at 4:30 Meeting was called to order at 4pm following the ground breaking ceremony. Full Park Committee in attendance via Zoom. Old Business ● The DNR conducted a site visit and we’re waiting for their conclusions regarding hunting. ● Maintenance equipment decisions. A used trailer has been acquired and a tractor is leased ● Pavilion tables and chairs are selected. Final color selections are champagne metallic legs/bases since there is no chrome in the main room, misty brown poly, and pinnacle walnut table tops. The colors match the other design elements and pull out the lighter colors. Group approved the color selections, order will be placed. ● Park signs have been received and look fantastic. Action Items: ● Approved minutes of the April 2026 meeting. ● Endorse main entrance sign. Waiting on Fox Cities Builder estimate for base. Reports: ● Pavilion update: Construction is moving along and on schedule. ● Playground install will be pushed back a week to allow for concrete to be complete. ● 8 pickleball courts will be installed. Courts meet official USA Pickleball regulations and have a seating area in the middle. Will need to figure out tables/shade solutions in the future. ● Site prep is being completed by county. ● Main sign being developed. McMahon and Jean to suggest size, BCE to design. ● Signs: signs for throughout park are complete and received, design of entrance sign is complete and waiting for pricing on base and lighting. Donor board/thank you board will be temporary solutions at grand opening. They’ll be finalized next winter alongside Gruetzmacher signage. ● Maintenance: Gregg Johnson has been hired and the maintenance garage build out is underway. ● Alex presented on garbage and dog stations. Trail will contain dog bag/waste stations that will double as garbages - no need for garbage barrels with them. Presented options and locations for garbages. Request for dual containers that also have recycling. Request to put more where people gather. Also need bike racks. Alex will continue looking and put together a proposal. ● Bill presented an initial proposed maintenance budget. Everyone agreed that in the absence of actual data, it looks good. ● Project budget and timeline are constantly reviewed and on pace for a September grand opening. ● Grant opening plans. An initial pre-opening with Gruetzmachers and volunteers and then a public grand opening. We need people to plan this. Brainstorm of ideas includes: pickleball lessons, hike with naturalist/bird watching group, bike lessons by the pump track/skills course, grill out, etc. Next meeting - Wednesday June 17, 2026, 4:30 zoom meeting
