May Town Board Meeting — Minutes

Town of Caledonia Town Board Meeting Minutes May 18th, 2026 In attendance: Chairperson Abba, Supervisor Bosquez, Supervisor Knuth, Deputy Clerk|Treasurer Kircher and 6 residents. Clerk/Treasurer Snyder excused. Chairperson Abba called the meeting to order at 6pm Public Forum: Kevin Krentz introduced himself to discuss his bid for 57th assembly district. He discussed his desire to control waste in spending & his other campaign goals Old Business: ● Annual meeting follow-up- Discussed the board compensation change and the 45 mph on Cut-Off rd ● Caledonia Fest parade decision. At this time everyone feels that it is best to cancel the parade as there are no communities currently willing to oversee. ● gov.website transition will be looked into in June 2026 Action Items: ● Motion to approve minutes of the 4/20, 4/22, & 5/12 Special Town Board Meeting as well as the 5/12 Board of Review meeting. Motion carried. ● Gold Cross Ambulance presentation- Discussed the level of emergency care in our area and how the calls are distributed. ● Motion to approve McMahon change order. Motion carried ● Motion to approve 2027 pricing for Gruetzmacher Park Community Center. Motion carried. ● Motion to approve MDR Softball usage Monday & Tuesday evenings June 8th- July 28. Motion carried. ● Motion to approve (2)Temporary permit Class B for MDR events. (6/21/26 & 9/12/26) Motion carried ● Motion to approve the building inspector report. Motion carried. ● Motion to pay expenses and payroll as presented. Motion carried. ● Driveway permits - none Chairperson’s Report Chairperson Abba provided updates on: ● Parks: Gruetzmacher Park community center will be completed in August. The grand opening is still scheduled for September. We’re still waiting to hear on the Department of Admin $2 million grant. Wohlt grant has a fall timeline for when they accept applications. ● Broadband: Brightspeed & Bertram both received broadband grants for Caledonia in the BEAD grant selection. This broadband will cover the entire area of Caledonia and bring competition to areas of Caledonia. Brightspeed will have 1 Gbps speeds in the areas not covered by Spectrum. Bertram would overlay cable to provide competition in the areas currently covered by Spectrum. Installation timeline is unknown. They have 4 years to complete the grant. They are planning to hit all addresses in the Town even though some may not be on the BEAD grant list. ● The 2026 budget will need to be revised as we’ve learned about the Kanaman bridge, Fire department EMS truck purchase, and our share of the cost of outdoor maintenance equipment. There will be a special meeting to discuss this. ● Dale Fire and Rescue ordered the EMS truck. Should deliver in fall. Clerk/Treasurer Report ● Clerk/Treasurer Kircher reported a cash balance of $1,753,161.89 at the end of April. Police, Fire, and Rescue Reports : Presented. Supervisor II Report: . 4 Animal control calls Supervisor I Report: The Planning Commission is working to make the requested subdivision plan.
