Park Committee Meeting — Minutes

TOWN OF CALEDONIA – WAUPACA COUNTY Minutes of the Park Committee meeting held on April 30, 2026 at 3:30 Meeting was called to order at 4pm following the ground breaking ceremony. Full Park Committee in attendance. Allen attended via Zoom. Old Business ● DNR responded to the hunting proposal. We had believed the process was complete, but the DNR still has steps to follow. The process will continue with a site visit from the DNR and an assessment of the site written up. Then a final decision will be made. ● Ground breaking ceremony is complete and went smoothly. Action Items: ● Approved minutes of the March 2026 meeting. ● Approved sign order for all of the signs in the park and Community Center (not including the main entry sign) ● Endorsed furniture order direction with flip top tables and poly chairs. Helen, Natalie, and Allen to select colors of chairs and table tops. ● Endorsed outdoor maintenance equipment plan with a focus on leasing equipment for the first few years while we understand what equipment we need. ● Endorse direction for main park entry sign. Reports: ● Pavilion update: Construction is moving along and on schedule. ● Change order in the May Towy Board meeting for flatwork. ● Playground install planned for July, concrete will be complete prior to that. Final payment due on install. ● 8 pickleball courts will be installed in Phase 1. Courts meet official USA Pickleball regulations and have a seating area in the middle. Will need to figure out tables/shade solutions in the future. ● Main sign being developed. McMahon and Jean to suggest size, BCE to design. ● Update on maintenance/cleaning position: The long term plan is to combine the positions and hire two maintenance/cleaning people. One is hired now, the other will be hired in 2027. ● Grant updates: ○ We were notified that we did not receive any award from the State of Wisconsin Department of Admin grant in this grant cycle. ○ Wohlt grant submission will open in the fall and we’ll re-apply at that time. ● Project budget and timeline are constantly reviewed and on pace for a September grand opening. ● Grant opening plans. We need people to plan this. Brainstorm of ideas includes: pickleball lessons, hike with naturalist/bird watching group, bike lessons by the pump track/skills course, grill out, etc. Concern about parking.
