February Park Committee Meeting — Minutes

TOWN OF CALEDONIA – WAUPACA COUNTY Park Committee Meeting February 18, 2026 Minutes Meeting called to order at 4:30 on Zoom. In attendance: Bill, Helen, Allen, Brad, Alex, and Natalie Action Items: ● Motion to approve minutes of January 2026 meeting. Motion carried. ● Motion to approve Community Group use to move to Gruetzmacher Park pavilion on 10/01/2026 and rentals to be available starting 01/01/2027. Pricing for rentals will be approved at a future meeting. Motion carried. Reports: ● Gruetzmacher Park updates. ○ Pavilion construction started, concrete footings are being poured. ○ Appliances picked out - fridge, stove, and microwave. ○ Furniture selection starting. ○ Flatwork plans being made for concrete not included in pavilion bid. ○ Playground is ordered and will install week of July 6. ○ Courts bid package is being put together. 4 courts and possible additional 4 courts. ○ Park signs are in progress - verbage, design, and quantities. ○ Main sign should match the building. Gruetzmachers will have extra stone for the sign. ○ Hunting plan is at DNR and we should hear back within a week. ○ A committee is working on maintenance and cleaning plans. ○ Grants update: ■ submitted Wohlt grant for additional courts, no response yet ■ DOA $2 million matching grant requested additional information to verify we had matching funds. Hopefully this is a positive sign. ○ Pond plants will be planted in fall. ○ Recap of timeline - still on pace to hold grand opening in September. Discussion - any topic a park committee member wants to discuss. ● A neighbor reached out about purchasing a portion of the land adjacent to their property that doesn’t have active park space on it. The committee raised concerns about whether the DNR would allow any land to be sold since the land was used as match, the precedent this would set, and the extra workload associated with a survey/CSM/sale when we’re very busy with park construction logistics. Bill Abba will reach out to DNR to address the first concern.
