VILLAGE OF WYOCENA SPECIAL JOINT MEETING WITH WYOCENA LIBRARY BOARD VILLAGE BOARD MINUTES MONDAY, JULY 22, 2024 Call to order: Village President Kim Bauer called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m. Roll call: President Kim Bauer, Trustees: Owen Landsverk, Rebecca Sersch (Wyocena Village and Library Board member), Jeremy Crary, and Doug Rose. Also present: Administrator Lori Kratky, Past Library Director Darrell Fehd, Wyocena Library Board members: Jean Porter, Ben Heninger, Jim Burmeister, and Barb Pulver, South Central Library System (SCLS) representatives Shannon Schultz and Tracie Miller, and citizen Courtney York. Absent: Trustees Paul Crary and Rusty Schiradelly. Proof of Posting: The Village Clerk posted the agenda for the July 22, 2024 Special Village Board meeting on the bulletin board at the Wyocena Community Center, Wyocena Post Office, entrance to the Wyocena Library, and the Village website on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Recognition of Visitors: Nothing to report. New Business: Options and/or Decision Regarding Possible Library Closure: SCLS Director Shannon Schultz presented options regarding the Wyocena Library either closing or remaining open. Options included: 1) Form a joint municipal library established under Chapter 43. 2) Explore becoming a branch of an existing public library. 3) Become a standalone library, not established under Chapter 43. 4) Close the library. 5) Withdraw from the SCLS. 6) Provide a minimal service outlet. Discussion of options followed. Motion by Landsverk, second by Rose, to have SCLS, on behalf of the village; pursue conversations with Pardeeville regarding forming a Joint Library Agreement. M.C. Director Schultz stated she will speak with the Pardeeville Library Board at their August 1st meeting. If the Pardeeville Library Board would like to pursue the option, it would then go to the Pardeeville Village Board. If the Pardeeville Village Board is interested conversation between the Wyocena and Pardeeville Village boards would begin. Board Comments: The next village board meeting will be August 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Items to be discussed will include Wyocena Library options. Adjournment: Motion by Landsverk, second by Bauer, to adjourn the Village Board at 5:43 p.m. M.C. The Library Board continued their meeting once the Village Board was adjourned.
