They sent pictures and the table below showing the village’s bridges and the maintenance items needed, and requested clearing be completed annually in August for WisDOT September bridge inspections. o 9/28/26 - The WisDOT bridge inspector, Willie Knaack, sent a message that he was so happy to see the work that was done. Willie stated the Village took a giant step forward and sent his compliments on the work. PW has more work to be done, but Willie said, “great job, some more to do, and then maintain!” Willie is scheduling a meeting in October to discuss remaining maintenance. o Willie went on to state that he will be using a picture of one of our bridges in future presentations to show how to brush a bridge. Also present: Darin Pagel, Village Interim Zoning Administrator Motion by Grueneberg/Channel to approve the July 27 2026 meeting minutes. Carried 7/0. Public Hearing regarding an Amendment to Ordinance §17.08-5 titled Accessory Uses and Structures. Pagel explained the top two items’ residents are upset about when building a house or accessory building, is that the current code bases square footage on the size of the house. He stated that people have stuff and sometimes require a larger garage and smaller living space but with the current code, they are not allowed to have an attached garage larger than the house. The proposed change will simplify the code to read: Accessory structures are limited to a maximum of 10% of the total lot area with a maximum of two accessory structures, exempting one structure of 150 sq ft or less. A question was raised about how the village would control someone using a building as a rental for storage. Pagel explained if it’s not the owner’s own stuff it turns into commercial and would need conditional use permit. There was concern about a large garage overshadowing the house. There was a discussion that people are trending even more toward larger garages and smaller houses and that it is better for people to keep their things inside than outside. Commission members in agreement that this change would save a lot of hassle in the future in figuring out building sizes. Motion by Channel/Hase to adjourn the public hearing at 6:33pm. Carried 7/0. Motion by Hase/Massey to approve Amendment to Ordinance 17.08-5 titled Accessory Uses and Structures. Carried 7/0. Public Hearing: Amendment to Ordinance 17.13 for Principal Building lot coverage A question was raised if there was a 1500 sq ft house, and the village no longer used % rate, the attached garage could be 2500 sq ft? Pagel explained anything attached would fall under principal building lot coverage. A home with a four-car-attached garage could put up two accessory buildings, if it fits under the 10% lot size. A question was raised about an old farmstead with three or more existing accessory buildings? Pagel explained this is considered an existing non-conforming lot, and it would not be allowed to be more non-conforming. Motion by Hase/Channel to adjourn the public hearing at 6:42pm. Carried 7/0. Motion by Channel/Frank to approve Amendment to Ordinance 17.13 for Principal Building Lot Coverage. Carried 7/0. Motion by Massey/Frank to Adjourn at 6:56pm.
