He has received a quote from Jensen for $54,804.00 to resurface the parking lot, and from the Highway, the quote was $77,750.00, but that includes widening it by 5 feet and raising the elevation. Adams asked if Jensen provided a quote on the additional items and Svejda stated they had not. Svejda was asked to have Jensen provide a quote for the complete job. Motion by Floyd, seconded by Adams, to replace the parking lot and use the remaining LATCF money for the equipment needs. Motion carried. He has reached out to the DNR biologist and has tried several options that were suggested to get rid of the geese. The biologist has suggested a goose round up where they capture the geese and remove them. The Miller Dam Lake Association has offered to cover the cost of $2,200.00 -$3,500.00. Motion by Carbaugh, seconded by Gebauer, to have the geese removed. Motion carried. Parking lot replacement (Human Services, north Courthouse): Svejda provided an update on the condition of the parking lots, stating the north end of the courthouse is in the worst shape. He got estimates to replace it from the Highway - $44,000.00 and Jensen - $48,000.00, also an estimate to spray patch and chip seal from the Highway for $9,000.00, which could buy us about 8 more years. The Human Service parking lot is also in poor condition. The drainage is bad, which causes a lot of problems in the winter. The estimate from Jensen, to replace was $54,000.00. There was some discussion about how to pay for the parking lots, and the 2nd payment from LATCF (Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund), in the amount of $98,000.00, will be coming in the near future and could cover both projects. If the parking lots are replaced they should last 30 years. No action taken at this time. Dairy Barn roof: Svejda ran an ad for bids on the Dairy Barn roof and received no response. He reached out to Meyer Buildings and received a quote of $69,907.00 to re -roof the Dairy Barn and add a 24” overhang to each side of the building, and an additional $1,507.00 to replace the steel ridge cap with ridge light. It is a ½ ton, has a smaller engine, 2.7L and the maximum towing capacity is 7,600 pounds. This truck is $42,486.00. • Medford Auto Group has a 2022 Ram 2500, and this is a work truck. Voting equipment demo: Peter Babel of Meridia Interactive Solutions attended via Zoom and provided a demo of the voting equipment to potentially use at County Board sessions. It consists of a stand -alone unit and clickers that each supervisor would use to vote for a roll call vote. Once the vote is closed it is displayed for all to see. The vote is also documented and easily printed in a report. This seems to be exactly what we need. A quote will be sent to Farrand. No action taken. Dairy Barn roof: Catherine Lemke and Tim Hobl of the Fair board were present to discuss the condition of the roof. Hobl had an estimate to reskin the roof for $55,000.00, to do the sides as well, the estimate is $103,000.00., plus permits, concrete and replacing the rotten boards as necessary. There was discussion about needing a roof with 2 -foot overhangs as well as vented ridge caps. There was discussion about using ARPA money and possibly powerline money as the fair does not have money to contribute. Motion by Carbaugh, seconded by Floyd, to go out for bids to redo the roof with the 2-foot overhangs. Motion carried. Transfer stations: This agenda item is referring to dump stations for recreational vehicles. It has been brought up to several board supervisors that there should be more than just the one in the City. Svejda stated that there is one in Rib Lake for the campers at Wood Lake and Camp 8 campgrounds and there is also one at the P -Town Saloon on Hwy M. After some discussion it was determined that it would not be feasible for the county to put the money into creating any additional dump stations. No action taken. Maintenance updates: Svejda stated that interviews were going to be done next week to fill the 2 custodian positions. Adjourn the meeting: Motion by Gebauer , seconded by Carbaugh, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Winter Sports Area season dates: Sara Matyka was present to provide an update on the season and ask that the closing date be extended. To date there have been over 4800 visitors to the Winter Sports Area from 28 states and 8 countries. Apparel is selling well and the condition of the hill is still very good. In the past the closing date was set as the first weekend in March, Matyka is requesting that they are able to stay open longer, as long as conditions are good. Motion by Gebauer, seconded by Adams, to leave it to the discretion of the WSA Manager and the Maintenance Director as to when to close. Motion carried. Truck condition and replacement: Svejda took the Maintenance trucks for an evaluation as requested at the last meeting. • The 2004 Dodge Ram needs $5,762.00 in repairs to be roadworthy and has a current blue book value of approximately $6,000.00. • The 2009 Ford F150 needs $9,978.00 in repairs to be roadworthy and has a current blue book value of approximately $5,000.00. Svejda stated a new truck will cost approximately $45,000.00 -$50,000.00, so he is looking for recommendations from the committee. He doesn’t feel it is worth putting that much into the current trucks. He has two possible options to buy vehicles from other county offices. The Sheriff’s Office truck is a 2019, with 98,000 miles on it and the blue book is approximately $30,000.00. The Forestry truck is a 2017 with 60,000 miles and would be $15,000.00, but Forestry still has not received their replacement. Motion by Carbaugh, seconded by Adams, to get bids from all three dealerships locally. Motion carried.
