and what other counties are doing.
Director’s Report : Viergutz informed the group of the Nutrition Assessment on-site

Review 2nd Quarter Nutrition Reports: Reports were distributed and reviewed. Viergutz noted
Jump River meals and contribution amount was higher in April due to the Volunteer Recognition
Dinner. It was noted that the contribution amounts average out during the quarter.
Site Updates:
Jump River: Fleming indicated that they missed the fall color tour this year, however their site
would still be open to hosting if we were able to arrange. Viergutz stated that the office already
put a reminder on the calendar to plan ahead for next year.
Goodrich: Hrdina relayed a message from their site that they are receiving the menus too late
and not enough copies. Viergutz explained the process that the menus are included in the
monthly packet for the site managers and are ready mid-month for the next month, with the
exception of Medford and Gilman as their menus are later. Viergutz also stated that if people
are commenting that they are not receiving their newsletters we ran a piece in the re for four
months last year asking to call the office if they wanted to continue receiving the newsletter,
please let people know they can be added to the list at any time. The menus are also published
in the Star News, however, we are unsure which week they will publish them as they do this for a
free service for us.
Medford: Graffunder reported that the site is nicely decorated for fall. They also requested the
newsletter earlier for the menu. Viergutz explained that we cannot distribute the newsletter
earlier then when they are mailed however the office will print more copies of the menu for the
site.
Westboro: Peterson offered a reminder that in the case of an emergency at your site to remain
calm. You can call the COA office to have them reach the person’s emergency contact. They
recently had an event at their site, and had to assist the EMT until more arrived, respecting the
person’s privacy as well as giving the EMT’s enough space and assistance as needed.
Rib Lake: Rizzi reported everyone is friendly, enjoyed the fresh flower bouquets that Arlene
brings in and wishes more people would attend.
Gilman: Pulcher reported the updates to the Gilman site, new flooring, paint, chairs, a few
pictures, a TV and thanked the COA. Suggested updated training for AED and if there was a way
to silence the alarm when checking it. Pulcher mentioned that the new futons seemed to be too
low for older people to sit on, Viergutz suggested that she contact maintenance to see if they
can potentially build a riser.
There was an overall discussion on how to attract more people to the nutrition sites, in fear that
a site may close a day or permanently and the effects trickling down to the home delivered
meals. It was felt that by attending the community would not only benefitting themselves by
eating a nutritious meal as well as keeping the process going for those who are homebound.
Director’s Report : Viergutz informed the group of the Nutrition Assessment protocol from
GWAAR, the virtual portion was completed last week and the in person that was supposed to
happen this week was postponed due to a scheduling conflict of GWAAR. There are a few items
that Viergutz noticed while prepping for the onsite visit, however once the report is completed
GWAAR will share our results. Viergutz also discussed the update to the Gilman site, stating that
ARPA funds were used for the project and that an open house will be planned this fall. Viergutz
discussed the 2024 budget as she will present to the Budget and Finance Committee the
following day. With the increase of food and transportation the COA was unable to come in at
the suggested 0% increase. The COA committee recently approved the suggested increase of
nail care effective 10/1/23 to mirror the increase of the Health Department. The $20 care call
units will go up to $25 effective 1/1/23. Viergutz will share a copy of the recent meal cost tool at
the next meeting. Fleming suggested that the committee go back to their sites, explain where
things are and suggest that if they would be able to contribute a bit more it would be beneficial
to the program. Viergutz stated that October is the month where all nutrition sites will be
holding fire drills. She also asked that each representative work with their site manager to
complete an Environmental survey for the sites recommended by GWAAR, deadline would be a
month or two. Viergutz is now part of a group of consumers who all use Lynn’s catering. We
are currently seeking feedback on the milk and if there are any problems as well as a list from
each site of the two most favorite meals and the two least favorite meals.

at the Medford Nutrition Site.

with the breakdown of donation by site.
Discussion regarding increasing congregate participation. The stigma of people thinking they
can either “afford” their own meals or not feeling comfortable because they may not know
anyone. There was a discussion regarding bariatric people who may not want to come due to
seating. It is discussed to look into bariatric folding chairs to be offered at each site as well as
gift certificates that current participants can distribute and encourage someone to come that
has not dined at the site before.

collected for each site was distributed and reviewed.
Site Discussions and Suggested Donations: After the last meeting it was brought back and
discussed with some of the sites that there may be a need to increase the suggested donation
for meals. Representatives discussed with their peers that if they could donate more it would be
appreciated, some individuals still struggle with the current amount. Viergutz shared that the
majority of the costs come with the home delivered meals as we pay additional for packaging
and delivery. The committee agreed to wait until the June meeting to discuss as there will be
more information in the reports and the GWAAR grants should be awarded.
Director’s Report: Viergutz reported that since the change with the carryout meals, there has
not been any feedback. The COA staff work with the site managers if there are questions and if
the participant would qualify for an “exception” carryout meal for a regular participant or a
home delivered meal.
Viergutz will ask Dawn Kasper -Harder to see if she would be interested in s erving on this
committee. She is currently volunteering delivering meals for the rural Stetsonville route.
Discussion regarding special events at sites such as Dinner and a Movie or the monthly themed
