3. Review of 2025 Revenues and Expenditures of Hotel/Motel Tax

anticipated for the Advertising Account and Village Tourism/Promotion Account from the
Fall Festival of Fun and Christmas Tree Set-Up, Tear-Down and Lighting, and close
monitoring of expenditures will result in meeting budget goals for 2025.
4. Presentations by Tourism Entities
Kathy Meulemans, of Visit Washington County, distributed Visitor Guides to the
Commission and gave an overview of some sections of the guide, including parks and events
and the Jackson Community page. 2026 goals include increasing membership and finding
additional ways to promote communities in Washington County. Per Ms. Meulemans, Visit
Washington County is seeking a contribution of $6,000.00 from the Village of Jackson.
Director Mentzel reported a plan to host music in the park every other week and to hold a
three-day event, plus a softball tournament for Action in Jackson in 2026.
5. Review and Action on 2026 Budget for Hotel/Motel Tax
Director Mentzel highlighted portions of the proposed 2026 Hotel/Motel Budget, noting a
spike in revenues in 2023. Despite the revenue trend not continuing in 2024 or 2025,
Director Mentzel presented a balanced budget with a fund balance maintained to at least
$30,000.00. Per Commissioner Hamlin, the spike was the result of economic changes.
