Common Council Installation of Elected Officials MEETING MINUTES April 14, 2026 - 5:00 PM City Hall Council Chambers MINUTES 1. Call Meeting To Order Council President Harenda called the meeting to order at 5:01 PM. 2. Pledge of Allegiance Council President Harenda led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Invocation by Richard Piontek Richard Piontek led the invocation. 4. Roll Call; Public Notice City Clerk Rubina R. Medina took the roll call as follows: Present: Alderperson Hopkins, Alderperson Maxey, Alderperson Harenda, Alderperson Horbinski, Alderperson Kroupa Excused: Alderperson Scott La Fever, Alderperson Joseph Stribl, Mayor Dave Ament Staff Present: City Attorney Mark Blum, City Clerk Rubina R. Medina The City Clerk confirmed that a quorum was present and that the meeting was properly posted in compliance with the open meetings law. 5. Comments From Outgoing District 2 Alderperson Scott La Fever Council President Harenda stated that Ald. LaFever was unable to attend the meeting and noted that a plaque would be presented to him in appreciation of his service to the City of New Berlin and the constituents of District 2 over the past three years. 6. A Motion to Adjourn "Sine Die" MOTION: Motion to Adjourn sine die at 5:06 PM Motion by: Alderperson Horbinski Second by: Alderperson Kroupa VOTE: Motion Passed 5-0 8. Installation of Elected Officials by City Clerk A. District 2 Alderperson Meg Gardner City Clerk Medina administered the oath of office to newly elected District 2 Alderperson Meg Gardner. B. District 4 Alderperson Kenneth A. Harenda II City Clerk Medina administered the oath of office to District 4 Alderperson Ken Harenda following his re-election. C. District 6 Alderperson Dennis Horbinski City Clerk Medina administered the oath of office to District 6 Alderperson Dennis Horbinski following his re-election. 9. Call Meeting To Order Council President Ken Harenda called the meeting to order at 5:10 PM. 10. Pledge of Allegiance Council President Harenda led the Pledge of Allegiance. 11. Roll Call; Public Notice City Clerk Rubina R. Election of Council President (Nominations followed by secret ballot, if necessary) Ald. Hopkins nominated Ald. Harenda for Council President. Ald. Maxey supported the nomination. There being no further nominations, nominations were closed. MOTION: Motion to Approve the nomination of Ken Harenda as Council President Motion by: Alderperson Horbinski Second by: Alderperson Maxey VOTE: Motion Passed 5-0 13. Comments from Elected Officials and Introduction of Family Members Alderperson Gardner, Alderperson Harenda, and Alderperson Horbinski provided remarks and thanked their families and the constituents of their respective districts. 14.
