Clerk: CC Posted: 04/23/2026 City Hall Bulletin Board Website Notified Media Proposed 2026 Park & Rec Budget - Oakwood Park Tree Planting - 37-acre Oakwood Park features a popular disc golf course and includes unpaved hiking trails frequented by residents and their dogs. The southern end of the park (approx. 12-acres) is currently rented to a farmer to grow alfalfa. Improvement plans include construction of the hiking/biking trail along the entire south edge of the park at Oakwood Road. The proposed tree planting/landscaping will consist of a total of 60-80 trees randomly dispersed along both sides of the 1200 ft long trail. Grading and perennial planting are included in the plan/budget. This will: - Provide shade and a natural environment along the trail - Create a buffer between the park, Oakwood Road and neighboring properties - Begin tree growth required to convert the open farm field to a parklike setting - Improve the open area to help attract development to the neighboring property to the north The current tree fund balance is over $50000. Arbor Day planting commitments and tree replacement plans for 2026-29 will cost $2750/year. The proposed Oakwood Park tree planting will be paid by $25000 from the City’s tree fund, and a potential $25000 State of Wisconsin matching grant. Yellow outline denotes proposed tree planting area. Red line denotes hiking/biking trail.
