Town of Schley – Special Elector Meeting to Vote on Town Hall Options Chairman Klimek called the special town elector meeting to order immediately after the Town budget meetings on November 15, 2023 at 6:17 p.m. Roll call: Klimek, Brown, Plamann, Podeweltz, and Dallman Verification of public notice by Town Board. Electors were given the opportunity to walk around the town hall. Town Board presented cost estimates for a new building and renovating the existing town hall. Discussion included but not limited to overall structure of the existing town hall, handicap accessibility, plumbing, septic system, well, contingency funds, and warranties. Town Board applied for County ARPA funds in the amount of $124,600, which if approved, would be a match to what that the Town would have in a special projects account. Klimek stated that the Town Board would also apply for grants and loans if needed but first would need to bid the project out to see how much money would be needed. Being there was no additional discussion, Chairman Klimek called the vote. Electors approved voting by secret ballot. Mary Ann Gretenhardt and Chuck McCrory volunteered to tally the results. Results showed: 37 votes in favor of constructing a new town hall, 4 votes in favor of renovating the existing town hall, and 1 elector choosing not to vote. Klimek made a motion to pass a resolution to construct a new town hall, 2nd by Plamann. Roll call vote. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Plamann to adjourn the meeting. 2nd by Brown. All ayes.
