Minutes of the Marquette County Extension Education Committee Tuesday, May 6, 2025 – County Board Room, Montello Let the record show that Committee Members Present were: John Bennett, Dennis Fenner, and Ken Borzick. Also in attendance were Ron Barger, Administrator, and Jacob Hansen, IT Department. Staff Present: Christa VanTreeck, Laci Monroe, Hannah Zellmer, Pat Wagner. Call Meeting to Order- Meeting was called to order by Fenner at 11:00 a.m. Meeting is being recorded on WebEX. Approve Agenda- motion to approve the agenda by John Bennett with a second by Ken Borzick. Motion carried. Approve February Minutes- no discussion–motion to approve the minutes by Ken Borzick and second by John Bennett. Motion carried to approve minutes as published. Citizens’ Input- none Educator Reports: FoodWIse Nutrition Coordinator–Laci Monroe – shared an update on programming and a written report was attached to the agenda. Human Development and Relationships Educator–Hannah Zellmer – shared an update on programming and a written report was attached to the agenda. 4-H Youth Development Educator–Christa VanTreeck – shared an update on programming and a written report was attached to the agenda. Motion by Bennett and second by Borzick to place educator reports on file. Motion carried. Area Extension Director Update - Pat Wagner a. Wagner shared a copy of the Extension Annual Report with each person present. She will present to the county board on May 29, 2025. b. Discussion of the vacant regional crops educator position resulted in consensus that some data points were needed by the committee members. Wagner will bring the position description and report data from work completed to the June committee meeting. c. Other: Wagner shared that some federal funds have been cut from Extension and other UW Divisions. Wagner also shared that Extension staff have been participating in the strategic planning process. 2025 Extension Listening Session – A date of July 9, 2025 was selected for the Listening Session. Committee members were asked to forward names of participants for this community forum to the Extension. Results of the process will inform regional crops educator vacancy and future programming. Review vouchers completed. Report of Extension Education Committee Members a. Reports of official meetings held in the prior month i. Fair Committee - Per Bennett, the Fair Board is ready to go for the fair at the end of June. An intern was hired and Fairest of the Fair candidate(s) have applied. 2025 Fair Dates–June 24-29. ii. Upcoming Events/Issues (for discussion only) - none.
