Minutes of the October 8, 2026 Meeting of the Sawyer County Finance Committee of the Sawyer County Board of Supervisors Board Room; Sawyer County Voting Committee Members (X) Present: Others Present: John Righeimer- Excused Mike Markgren Ron Kinsley Stacey Hessel Liz Klein John Pinnow- Virtual Marc Helwig Ron Buckholtz Andy Phillips- Virtual Steve Kariainen Rhandi Ehn Jeremy Marshall- Virtual Jeff Hoehne Brian Lehner Call to Order – Vice Chair Hessel called the meeting to order at 8:30 am. Certification of Compliance with the open meeting law was met. Roll Call taken and quorum was met. Meeting Agenda – Set Public Comments – Brian Priester, Mindy Simons, Linda Zillmer Atty. Andy Phillips, Synthec Bond Issue Request— Atty. Phillips updated the committee on the status of the Synthec funding request; he is waiting for term sheets and definitive documents that guarantee zero risk to the county before proceeding. The timeline for BCPL and the Swiss Bank is to complete the process by early December. Minutes from the previous meeting dated: September 10, 2026 Motion to approve made by: Mr. Helwig Second by: Mr. Hoehne Motion carried without negative vote. Treasurer’s Report – Mr. Lehner provided a written report on County land sales and delinquent parcels. Finance Department Report - Ms. Ehn reviewed monthly sales tax revenues, Budget Performance Reports for September 2026, and September CIP purchases. Department Financial Updates-- Ambulance Department---Ms. Ehn reviewed September 2026 financials for the Ambulance Department. Highway Department—Ms. Ehn reviewed September 2026 Financials for the Highway Department. The Committee commended Mr. Pinnow for his work turning the Highway Department around from a deficit to a positive fund balance. Investments Review and Update—The August investment report was provided: interest rates are holding above 3%; August County CD interest exceeded 2025 returns by $70,000. Administrator 2027 Budget Presentation- Ms. Ehn walked through slides of the proposed 2027 Budget with the committee. The 2027 Budget Public Hearing will follow the County Board meeting on October 16, 2026 at 6:00 pm.
