Minutes of the March 9, 2026 Meeting of the Sawyer County Economic Development and UW-Extension Committee of the Sawyer County Board of Supervisors Board Room; Sawyer County Voting Committee Members Present: Others Present: Chair: John Righeimer- Excused Mike Markgren Lori Adria Vice Chair: Stacey Hessel Laura Bruce Tom Duffy Sheldon Johnson Steve Kariainen Mindy Simons Randy Neumann Ron Kinsley Call to Order – Ms. Hessel called the meeting to order at 8:30 am. Certification of Compliance with the open meeting law was met. Roll Call was taken. Quorum was met. Meeting Agenda -- Set Public Comments – None Minutes from the previous meeting dated: February 9, 2026 Motion to approve made by: Mr. Duffy Second by: Mr. Neumann Motion carried without negative vote. Library— None Hayward Lakes Visitors & Convention Bureau Report— Ms. Simons reported on the current campaigns: Video Views and Demand Generation. She spoke about the upcoming spring campaigns and the hosting of the Governors Opener. Mr. Kinsley asked if the Governor would be traveling the roads of Southern Sawyer County. NWRPC Report— Mr. Johnson reported on the Water Resource Plan, Environmental services program and the Strategic Assessment. Mr. Duffy inquired on Federal Grant impacts. SC/LCO Economic Development Corporation Report— Ms. Hessel read a report from Mr. Lamoureaux which included a Thrive Grant update, a Lumber Exchange update and Forestry Revitalization update. Ms. Hessel stated this passed the House on February 17th and is is scheduled for March 17th in the Senate. Trail Reports-- Motorized—Mr. Neumann reported the trails have been officially closed as of March 6th to both snowmobile and ATV/UTV use. He summarized the season ending local club events and fundraisers. Non-Motorized trails—Mr. Duffy reported on the recent Birkie.
