Town of Mukwonago Police Commission W320 S8315 Beulah Road Mukwonago WI 53149 (262) 363-5188 http://www.townofmukwonago.us ________________________________________________________________________________________ Police Commission Town of Mukwonago Minutes of March 25, 2019 meeting 1) Meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Chairman Zens. 2) Statutory notice of meeting and agenda was given. 3) Present (roll call): Commissioners Zens, Miller, and Boucher. Chief Czarnecki was also present. Commissioners Brazzoni and Maus were absent. 4) Miller and Zens moved to approve minutes of June 19, 2018 as presented. Passed 3/0. 5) Recruitment and hiring procedures for full-time and part-time sworn officers were discussed, particularly clarification of the administrative role of the Chief (recruitment, screening, and testing), and the oversight role of the Commission (selection of candidates for an eligibility list; approval of appointments and promotions). Generally, it was agreed that in the interest of efficiency and timeliness, the Chief should be able to initiate recruitment without the need to convene the Commission to approve that step. All of the current recruitment, screening, and testing will be administered by the Chief, with periodic, timely status reports to the Commission. As previously, the Chief will present candidates for interviews by the Commission, the Commission will select candidates for an eligibility list, and approve appointments and promotions. Miller and Zens moved to state this interpretation of policy for the record. (This action represents a change in practice, not a change of policy.) Passed 3/0. 6) Boucher and Zens moved to adjourn at 6:51 PM. Passed 3/0.
