Stephanie,
As the GLLEA meeting agenda for tomorrow evening includes approval of the GLLEA Budget please share with the
members that the Village of Williams Bay preliminary draft 2027 budget includes $75,000 for GLLEA and not the
$100,000 paid for the current year. The Village of Williams Bay annual operating budget has increasingly been difficult to
balance and the $25,000 unplanned increase in costs last year was begrudgingly approved simply because the increase
was so late in the budget year for both entities.
Also, please consider adding me to future agenda distribution lists.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Dave

What is the District’s
commitment to taxpayers?
NEUTRAL TAX IMPACT
Community presentation at WBHS Lecture Center-500 W Geneva Street
Wednesday, October 14 @ 7pm williamsbayschools.org/referendum
State funding has not improved.
The state funding formula hasn’t significantly changed
since the last referendum. Federal grants have
dropped drastically, putting more pressure on the
district’s only real revenue source- local property
taxes.
WBSD has kept its promises.
Over the past three years, WBSD collected less money
than voters authorized in the last referendum, taking
only what was strictly needed. We will continue to be
responsible with your tax dollars.
The last referendum was only a
temporary fix.
Without changes at the state level, WBSD must ask
voters to keep funding at last year’s level. Approval
keeps District revenues the same; rejection forces
a $2M+ budget cut that directly impacts student
programs and services. This referendum is another
four year bandaid unless the state makes changes to
the funding formula.
On November 3, 2026, Williams Bay School District is asking voters to
CONTINUE THE COMMITMENT
to our students, school, and community.
On November 3, 2026, Williams Bay School District is asking voters to
CONTINUE THE COMMITMENT
to our students, school, and community.
A b o u t T h e N o v e m b e r R e f e r e n d u m
Williams Bay School District returns to the ballot on November 3,
2026 with a question to ask voters for a four year extension,
continuing the ability to exceed the state-imposed revenue limit. The
2024 three-year referendum sunsets in June 2027. The November
ballot question continues the levy authority from July 2027 through
June 2031. The results of the November 2026 ballot will not affect
your tax bill until December 2027.
Williams Bay School District is proposing a non-recurring operational
referendum question. If it’s approved, the District will be able to
exceed the state-imposed revenue limit by
$2.0 million in 2027-2028, $2.5 million in 2029-2030,
$2.25 million in 2028-2029, and $2.75 million in 2030-2031.
An approved operational
referendum would have a neutral
impact on property taxpayers.
Maintaining the District’s current
budget will protect our
programming and staffing while
still providing tax relief for our
community.
Because the referendum isn’t
asking for NEW money, but
instead CONTINUED funding, it
results in a neutral tax impact.

Key Facts
Key Facts
We are not alone.
Our district joins seventy eight other school districts
across the state in asking voters to offset the
shortcomings of the State funding formula.
