Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes Wednesday April 15, 2026 5:30pm at Juneau Community Center Members Present: Jane Fude, Jennifer White, Kara Estrad, Wendy Jo Smedema, Jessica Nehls-Rennhack, Jacob Matoushek Also Invited: Mayor Dan Wegener 1. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 and roll call was taken 2. Approval of Agenda: Estrad/Nehls-Rennhack to approve agenda. Motion carried 5-0 3. Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting: Estrad/Fude to approve the March 2, 2026 meeting minutes 4. Public appearances and citizen comments re: agenda items: None. 5. Recreation & Program Coordinator Report: a. Recap: Open Gym held during spring break Books & Badges – 17 children – DCSO, JPD, EMS. T-Ball Registration Dodgeland making banners Updated website with his email Modern Woodman – working on grant, unable to reach previous contact KMSL-Rage Soccer made contact, painted lines, options for purchasing line robot Adult Volleyball League – talked to Chamber of Commerce for sponsorship/collaboration Neighbor dumping garbage in dumpster, police talked to Sponsorship for soccer fields – identify for public park sponsorship Reached out to other Rec Directors to learn about programs Shared flyers on upcoming programs Bleachers – in gym – DPW voted to keep; concern over safety – railings? Repainting Gym – 2 shades of grey b. Upcoming Events: T-Ball, Summer Crafts, Sports, Reading Club c. In the Works Volleyball League (18+) Kindness Rock Garden Sports Camps – Looking for others to lead the camps Lead: K.Estrad volunteered for Volleyball; have volunteer for softball (checking background) d. Ending Programs No Baseball, Tot Lot, Rec Club, Adventure Club e. Discuss General Program Ideas Movie with Library, Touch a Truck Event, National Night Out, Bike Ride for Ice Cream, Candy Bar Bingo Looked into Bingo License - tabled for now Concert in the Parks – Gathering information – Contact Chamber? f. Hiring Part-Time Summer Help Hiring – City Hall with Rec & Program Coordinator *Future change - wording – call/label position as internship 6.
