Juneau Public Safety Meeting Minutes February 19th, 2026 Chairperson Jane Fude called the meeting to order at 6:30pm. Roll Call was taken Members present. Mayor Dan Wegener, Jane Fude, Troy Justmann, Fire Chief Ed Weiss, EMS Director Dan Zan, Police Chief Dave Beal. Absent Jim Ronge Citizens in attendance Wendy Gubin Motion by Troy Justmann, 2nd by Jane Fude to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 2-0, 1 absent Motion to approve minutes from November 20th, 2025, by Troy Justmann, 2nd by Jane Fude. Motion carried 2-0, 1 absent Citizens wishing to be heard Wendy Gubin spoke requesting that no parking zone be created on N. Hyland St from the corner of N. Hyland St. from E Center St on the eastside of the street north to the stubbed-out street. Wendy indicated she has talked to her neighbor (Marquardt’s) and they are also good with making the curb no parking Infront of their residence as well. Police Chief handed out monthly reports for December,2025 and January 2026, 2025, Yearly report was handed out for the Police Department. Highlights of the report where given the department saw an increase with over 3000 calls for service in 2025 No Parking request for N Hyland St. measurements need to be taken and this will be placed on the next meeting agenda as this will require an ordinance change and then sent to council EMS Report Director Dan Zank handed out his monthly reports for December 2025 and January 2026, Zank also shared with the committee a list of EMS Officers for 2026 and went through the 2025 Yearly report for the EMS Fire Department Report Fire Chief Ed Weiss handed out monthly reports for December 2025 and January 2026, Yearly report 2025 highlights where shared Motion to send to council the newly elected or re-elected Fire Officers for 2026 was made by Jane Fude, 2 nd by Troy Justmann. Motion carried 2-0, 1-absent Emergency Government Director report. Dave Beal advised that he is currently working on upgrading cellular devices throughout the city as T-Mobile and US Cellular have made upgrades to 5G and older devices won’t work as well, and internet speeds won’t be as fast if it is an older device. A new furnace in the Fire Bay has been installed and is working well. Future agenda items: No parking N Hyland St Set date and time for next meeting. March 26th, 2026, at 6:30pm.
