Correspondence: Chairman Moody & Clerk Draper received a letter from the Port Edwards School District, thanking the Town for the thorough investigation and cordial response to the Voucher Transparency Resolution request. The letter also noted that the District was running into multiple unexpected issues related to the topic. It was reported that Treasurer Reese has received multiple informational letters regarding DISH filing Chapter 11. The Town has no interactions with DISH, so this does not affect Town business. Clerk Draper received two records requests for information regarding Town vendors. It was noted that the Town did not do any business with the vendors noted on the requests. The companies requesting the information were notified of this fact. A copy of a Complaint Investigation Notice regarding a potential failing septic system was received from Wood County Planning & Zoning. Clerk Draper received a notice from the Wisconsin Elections Commission regarding phishing warnings during the election season. The notice requested towns to pass along information and warning advice to the Board and the public. Notice of the August 21st WTA Wood County Unit meeting was shared. Meeting starts at 7:00 pm at the Pittsville Community Center. The Town of Hiles is hosting. Jerry Minor of Pittsville Fire Department will be the Speaker. Information regarding the WTA Fall Workshops were shared. There is a session being held in Stevens Point on September 21st. Any Board members interested in attending should contact Clerk Draper for submission of registrations. Received a report from the Nekoosa Fire Department regarding a fire call to a one-vehicle accident at Cranmoor Road and County Road G. The car, driven by B. Langmo, went off the road and into the woods and caught on fire. The Board requested the Clerk bill the party $500 as allowed in the Town’s Fire Call Ordinance. A copy of the Ordinance will be sent with the bill. Clerk Draper received an email from the DNR regarding the Landfill recent cleanup work, and the release of the CD monies for the cleanup and maintenance. Matt Bachman of the DNR responded that the Town needed to write a letter requesting release from the mechanism due to expiration of the long- term care period. The Board requested the Clerk write a letter to the DNR on behalf of the Town requesting the release of mechanism. The Clerk should also contact the City of Nekoosa and the Nekoosa Port Edwards State Bank regarding the CD, as the costs the Town has incurred for the Landfill cleanup and maintenance should be deducted from the CD, with both municipalities incurring half of the expense. The remainder of the monies should be split with Nekoosa receiving 2/3 and the Town of Port Edwards receiving 1/3, in accordance with the original agreement. Road Superintendent report: Road Superintendent Lueneburg reported that patching has been done in various areas throughout the Town. The second round of mowing is taking place. Noted that the grader may need some repair, and the Chevy patrol truck will need new tires this fall. 3 New Business: System for Award Management (SAM) renewal and Board contact. Treasurer Reese has been contacted and informed that the SAM is due for renewal. Reese is the current contact, however, is not planning to run for reelection in the spring, so feels a current Board member should be noted as the contact. It was decided that Clerk Draper would be the new contact. The Town was made aware of a business operating in the Town without the proper permits. Supervisor Jensen will contact the business owner regarding this situation. A letter to the business owner has been devised, and will be reviewed by Attorney Abts prior to sending to the business owner. Nuisance guidelines will be followed. Will be submitted to the Wood County Sherriff for the issuance of citations as necessary. Old Business: Review and act on Kimball Avenue Railroad Crossing marking. Chairman Moody noted that he continues to work with Wood County on this issue. The need for a traffic study is being determined by researching State Statutes. The issue will be tabled until the next meeting to allow time to obtain the accurate information and costs. Public Input: Question was raised regarding the progress of the work on Creamery Road. It was noted that the first layer of blacktop has been applied. Waiting for the harvesting of some fields before the 2nd layer will be completed. The progress on Ver Bunker Avenue was questioned. The Town has heard no information regarding the completion of that project, other than the original plan was to have the road finished before the start of school A resident asked if anything was known about the progress on Highway AA. Chairman Moody noted that the bridge deck is in place. The County is waiting on the DNR for final permits to complete the work. Question was asked regarding when Kimball Avenue between County Road G and Lynn Hill Road will be resurfaced. Response was that that section of roadway is included in next year’s plan. It was then noted by the public that there are many farm trucks using that section of roadway. Chairman Moody noted that the Town can put a weight limit on the road, but that does not always pertain to farm equipment. Suggestion was made to ask Wysocki Farms for money to fix the roads; similar to the Ho- Chunk Casino offering money for road repairs. A Town member asked what the DNR has to do with the completion of Highway AA. It was noted that the DNR regulates the area because of the waterway and potentially endangered wildlife. The County believes the study on this will be completed and/or work permits will be released in the next week or so. Topics for future discussion: No topics were brought forward. Adjourn: Being there was no other business to conduct, Jensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:39 p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Tracey Draper, Clerk
