Notice of the July 17th WTA Wood County Unit meeting was shared. Meeting starts at 7:00 pm at the Pittsville Community Center. The Town of Hansen is hosting. Ryan Brock, the Marsh Manager of Gardner Cranberry will be the Speaker. Clerk Draper received a new Fire Number notification. A request was received to trim or dig up the bushes on the corner of Highways G and 173, across the road from the Town Hall, as they are a safety hazard. Chairman Moody will contact the County in regards to the care of the bushes, as they complete maintenance affecting both County and State highways. A notice from the Humane Society was received that 5 cats were picked up on June 30th from a residence on Highway 54. It is believed the cats were dropped off and/or abandoned in that area. Supervisor Jensen has been in contact with parties interested in purchasing Lot #4 on Bollig Court, with complaints regarding excessive junk on the nuisance property, Lot #3. Jensen is attempting to contact the owner of Lot #3, as they are past the agreed upon date for clean-up of the lot. Supervisor Jensen has received phone calls regarding a new home being built. Just assuring that all permits were applied for and received. The Gonzalez property is adding many buildings to their property. Assuring they are applying for and receiving the permits that are required. Also have noticed cattle on the property, and want to be sure they are aware of the ordinance regarding the number of cattle allowable, etc. Road Superintendent, Lueneburg will be in contact with the owner to assure she is aware of the ordinance regarding farm animals. Supervisor Schmidt has been contacted regarding patching on Swiggum Lane. Road Superintendent Lueneburg noted that this has already been done. 3 Chairman Moody was notified that the 4H is selling Wood County plat books as a fundraiser. The cost is $35/book and the 4H keeps $5. A number of Board members would like a copy, and it was noted these are helpful in the Town vehicles as well. The Town will purchase 6 plat books from the 4H. Clerk Draper will contact Peggy Wettstein to complete this purchase. Chairman Moody shared the received Wood County Highway Department after hours on-call schedule. This schedule will be posted in the Town Hall and the Town Garage, as well as a copy given to Supervisors Schmidt and Jensen. Chairman Moody received information from Cedar Corporation regarding replacement of the Cranberry Creek Bridge on County Line Road. Informational materials regarding the project can be obtained from Cedar Corporation, and information will be posted on the Wood County and Town of Port Edwards websites. Chairman Moody received information from RLT Services; Trierweiler Municipal Services. They offer tree removal, plowing, hauling, etc. A price list was sent, if any services are needed. Chairman moody reported that Creamery Road has been started, and is expected to be completed by the end of July. Also, the Plank hill bridge has been placed, and the project is moving along. The timeline for Ver Bunker is not set yet. Hopefully before the school year begins. Road Superintendent report: Road Superintendent Lueneburg reported that the 3rd round of patching is taking place. The north end of Kimball is just falling apart, and there is just not much that can be done there. Mowing on the marshes is taking place. The cap of the landfill was mowed and took 14 hours. May want to look into having someone mow that with a skid steer once a year, or look into another way to maintain that area. New Business: Supervisor Schmidt noted he had been contacted regarding a dog violation. Wood County is taking care of this issue. Old Business: Discussion followed regarding the railroad crossing on Kimball Avenue. The Railroad is requiring the painting of crossing markings on this road. The Board had discussed the option of doing a traffic study to lower the speed on the road so the markings would not be necessary. Chairman Moody was given an approximate cost for the study of $2000. Also, the Railroad now has responded to the request to push back this marking until Kimball Avenue is resurfaced, and the response was this painting does need to be done now. This issue will be tabled until the next meeting, so the actual cost of the traffic study can be obtained. Chairman Moody was contacted by Port Edwards School District Board member, Leo Thomasgard and Jim Bena, District Administrator, requesting the Town develop a resolution to place the cost of school vouchers on property tax bills. Discussion followed regarding the cost to the Town for formatting tax bills in this manner, required approval by the DOR, the fact that 4 not all school-aged children attend public school, and other issues. Moody devised a letter to the Port Edwards School District explaining these issues and concerns, and the suggestion that if the school wants taxpayers to be informed in this regard that they should send out a separate mailing. Ultimately noting that the town does not see a need to pass a resolution at this time. Jensen motioned to approved the letter as presented, Schmidt seconded, motion carried. Clerk Draper will send this letter to Administrator James Bena. Supervisor Jensen gave an update regarding the three nuisance properties with which he had been in contact, and/or attempted contact. The property on Hwy. GG is not accepting communication. The owner on Lynn Hill and the owner of Bollig Court Lot #3 have not adhered to the timeline that they originally agreed upon. These properties will be submitted to the Wood County Sherriff for the issuance of citations. Public Input: Question was raised regarding the sand pile in the field along Highway G East of Kimball Avenue. Road Superintendent Lueneburg noted that this sand was moved from the area across from the Casino, to be used on the fields. Topics for future discussion: No topics were brought forward. Adjourn: Being there was no other business to conduct, Jensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:53 p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Tracey Draper, Clerk
